Gustav Kuhn is the director of the MAGIC lab at the Department of Psychology at the Goldsmith University of London, where he uses magic to study a wide range of psychological questions, around consciousness, attention, perception, magical beliefs, deception and free will.
Gustav discusses his new book "Experiencing the Impossible: The Science of Magic" and demonstrates his points by performing a number of magic tricks. He asks: What do we see when we watch a magician pull a rabbit out of a hat or read a person's mind? Why do we enjoy experiencing what seems clearly impossible, or at least beyond our powers of explanation?
