@@johnnihil1689 Honestly speaking... If you think that the entire point of this anime is that it's a parody then you're wrong. There's way more depth to the story and Saitama and other characters than it seems and that's because the anime haven't gone very far yet. In the original source, I can already see the point so that's why I'm saying that. It's. Not. A. Joke.

That's part of the aesthetic design of Wisecrack, and modern media in general. Oprah's our friend, Jon Stewart's our friend, Rush Limbaugh is our long-suffering compatriot against the liberal tyranny. It's assumed that humans are a bunch of lonely atomized guilt-ridden sociopathic profit-seekers killing the world and waiting for it to end, so clearly what these people most need are friends to medicate them and help them get through the day. Therefore first the television and then internet shows (modeled on television shows) have a friendly presenter, educating us and looking out for our best interests. Anyone who takes this seriously gets a rude awakening - the "friendliness" is an aesthetic design which has no bearing on actual emotions, which is not the same as saying that the presenter has no emotions, merely that the presentation is NOT based on the actual emotions of the presenter. It's done to increase the popularity of the show, by giving the people what they want, or at least the popular conception of what they want. One could argue that this greatly increases the degree of cynicism in viewers - that they are shown time and time again that the ethics of presentation involve manipulation and deceit - that when you feel resentful, or angry, or sad, you are NOT able to present effectively. If you maintain this emotional position you will simply be replaced by someone able to present the aesthetics of friendliness. So make sure to repress any emotions that hinder your presentation in order to keep being optimal. The argument, the push-back from media organizations, is that it's an existential necessity in a competitive marketplace. Which is to say, friendliness succeeds and animosity fails. It doesn't matter what's real, it matters what works, what succeeds, what raises view-count and makes more money. This allows for the expansion of the media empire and an increase in wealth and power for any corporate and capital backers.

The friendliness as aesthetic design goes well beyond entertainment shows - it's the general approach that modern public figures have with the public, and enough of the public is on-board that they act as policeman for the ideology itself. It's to the point where this might simply be called "culture". Take for example naming conventions for public figures. Jennifer Lopez isn't Jennifer Lopez, she's JLo, what previously would have been a pet name from her most personal acquaintances. Oprah Winfrey is much better known simply as Oprah, as if she's on a first-name basis with the entire world. Modern technology apps encourage this as well. Public figures have Facebook pages, Instagram pages, Twitter accounts with millions of followers, all containing the conceit of *personal access* to this person's thoughts and feelings. It's the technological version of Subway's transparent sandwich preparation - if we can't trust the preparers of food, at least we can see ourselves how it's made. In this kind of world, with everyone watching everyone else, with social capital measured in views, followers, and likes, friendliness is the only tolerated behavior.

Can you list the scientific journals and other sources you're referencing in this video? Something that I really like about wisecrack is your integrity to a philosophers larger body of work when referencing them in the video. I'm a little worried that this new road you guys are going down is going to be all pop science without sources. There's a whole lot of content that hasn't been explored though that I think your audience would really like. What about Rick and Morty and our history of scientific arguments around the ethics of cloning? Or Interstellar and the potential for real life time travel? I'm excited for you to be branching out into my favorite field, but it'd be nice if I could finish your videos with references to do a deep dive on my own. Thanks so much for the video! Good luck moving forward!

I disagree with putting a pay wall between your viewers and your works cited. Many, if not most, of the academic journals one might rely on to make videos similar to those of Wisecrack are already behind pay walls. So Wisecrack, a channel that purports to educate and inform, inserts an additional obstacle in the form of a pay wall between its reference list and its audience to incentivize patronage but to also simultaneously obscure its source materials (and, by extension, limit its audience’s already limited access to those materials and to limit the audience’s ability to educate and inform themselves beyond what they glean from Wisecrack’s videos while also placing Wisecrack’s videos an additional remove beyond the scrutiny of their audience). I call bullshit. Even Nerdwriter posts his sources in the doobly-doo. How hard is it to copy and paste that information there and come up with some other bonus materials to incentivize patronage?

what a fantastic episode! I really hope to see more like this, because it was really well written and really interesting. As much as I love the philosophical analysis (and I love them a LOT), having also a scientific view on things is amazing. Especially since, as a scientist, we often forget how much philosophy and science were born linked historically.

Kibate Do you know in one punch man universe every being has a limit specifically made for each person and if they go beyond they turn to monsters except for saitama he removed it.
