As a result of this gent being ethical in giving credit to the the creator of this method and not trying to sell additional straws (that are of no benefit) He is the best teacher on the Web. He teaches the stuff that really works. THANK YOU.

Hands down the simplest, most effective exercise I've come across in 35 years of performing and teaching. One of the best things about it - as a teaching tool particularly - is that unlike most exercises there are very few pitfalls and this video addresses them. Cash tip is on the way, thank you so much!

Hi there. There are so many singing straws out there. Is there one that you recommend?
@traceymallardАй бұрын
Is it okay to use a bigger straw at first? Like a regular drinking straw, and then a coffee stirrer?
@timogloor5041Ай бұрын
almost no sound will come out when i do this with a straw 👀 I'd say my vocal technique is pretty advanced but I still quite struggle with vocal fatigue. After puberty I had issues with my vocal folds not closing properly. It wasn't noticeable when I sang or spoke but I knew it was hindering me while singing. I trained for 2 years with a speech therapist. Now it's way better but I still have some issues with all of that I think. And this kinda proves it. Maybe I have to start with a bigger straw? I chose a Capri sun Straw, so very small, like Adams.

I find these straw exercises initially make me much better. But shortly after, my voice gets tired and weaker. So I wonder if it’s like weight lifting where the muscles fatigue but recover stronger. Or if I’m in danger of damaging my voice by overdoing it.

Sometimes the air wants to scape through the nose, must I close it?
@bigmistake59683 жыл бұрын
Does it have to be a small straw like the one you are using?
@dbanksey216 Жыл бұрын
Yep, to make sure you get the back pressure, too large, and its pointless
@WideCuriosity7 ай бұрын
I suspect the length isn't overly important, it'll likely be the diameter bore that makes a difference. But use whatever you can get hold of.
@n1teАй бұрын
Can I close my lips really tightly and create pressure that way? Still letting just a little bit of air go thru?
@themusketeer94582 ай бұрын
Made my own from a metal soap dispenser😂 important question tho! It feels very good, but i can do it 2 ways. The easiest is with the sound of air coming through the tube aswell as the voice. If i try to get harder fold closure to get a sharper sound, there is no air sound coming through, and it makes it much harder. But i wonder if that is the correct way, to sort of not have any air sound at all? I hope not haha,

I don’t think it’s a good idea to show this exercise to the public using the smallest diameter straw; for those just starting to use straws, it is MUCH wiser to start with a larger diameter, so as not to put too much pressure where it doesn’t belong (cheeks, lower back, etc.). Using a wider yet longer straw in a glass of water to blow bubbles also gives people a visual aid with the goal of creating an even production of bubbles. Blowing through a narrow straw into open air is geared for more advanced individuals.

They make staws specifically for singers. They are just like anyother straw except metal and come with a handy carrying case. Oh..... they cost 75 times more than an entire box of straws. Someone saw a need and filled it, and is making some cash. I prefer to use a new straw every session. More sanitary.
