Found this song when I was in a difficult stage of life. Nothing was working out, failed relationships, career crossroads, never been more uncertain about things. The song came up in a random playlist one day. Right when the chorus hit, across the street I saw my own reflection on a window and I realised where I had to focus on. Joined the gym next day, started working on myself. It took months but I’m finally in a much better place. We yearn for things and people while slowly drifting away from ourselves. We ignore that one person who knows us the best. I realised just how much a little self care can give us. Work on yourselves, change what you can about you, what you can’t, don’t. Accept those unique traits, find yourselves, and everything will work out.

I believe only a minority of people can fully understand the songs by The Script. omg. I have to see them again. I was right at the front of my stage with my best friend at a show back in 2012. I was 13. Danny O’Donoghue looked into my eyes and held eye contact for about 15 seconds as he sang this song and I could’ve just died right there. I thought I had just imagined it until my best friend started screaming like a banshee, saying, “OH MY GOD OH MY GOD HE LOOKED AT YOU!!!” And then I started screaming like a banshee with her. Being a teenager is terrible at the time, but looking back is absolutely hilarious. That concert and their performance brings back great memories.

I'm American, but I lived in Ireland from 2019-2022. (For those who don't know, The Script is an Irish band).I heard this song a lot when I first lived in Ireland, and I finally looked up the song out of curiosity because I thought it was weird that such an old song would get that kind of airplay. Turns out it that this song is actually about the 2008 recession, which hit Ireland really badly; it was actually one of the worst hit countries. The media was still talking about the recession when I lived there. Learning the meaning of this song and knowing how personal it is to Ireland makes the song feel so much deeper and more meaningful to me. I wasn't a huge fan of the song when it first came out but now I absolutely love it and get emotional when I hear it.

this has always been my ccmfort song when i'm sad or heartbroken since i was 12. i am 21 years old now, i've just got back listening to the script again and how their songs bring back nostalgia of my middle school years where i would sing the script songs with my best friend. now i'm listening to their songs again and how i noticed the lyrics affect me more deeply now. like how i sung this song again today and how i ended up crying. "trying to make it work but man these times are hard" is actually the condition of me and the world right now... and how it hit even more hard when the song ended with the lyrics "oh, these times are hard and they're making us crazy, don't give up on me baby" just broke my heart again and how i remembered in 2018 i was going through a major depression and how listening to the script helped me get through it. i am thankful for everything you guys have done, i still listen to your works till this day. thank you, ove you.

Such an underrated masterpiece. I remember that this was my favorite song when i was 11 - I had no internet connection at home, everytime i heard it at the radio I was so happy. Listening to this now makes me think about all the time gone, and how much things have changed in these years, for me and for the whole world. The song of my early youth. I will love this forever.

I'm gonna be one of those. I came to listen to this song because this was my gf and I's song. We had gone through a lot of shit since I was 14. I'm 22 and she broke up with me this year. 8 years of things getting hard, making us crazy, but we wouldn't give up on each other. I gave her all the love in the world, but it wasn't enough. She couldn't do it anymore, so she ended it and she's leaving to another country forever. I can't change anything. I listen to this song and it reminds me how through the toughest times we had we didn't give up on our love. It takes me back and tears me down now. She's the one that I'll love for the rest of my life. Nothing and no one will change that. Thanks for letting me share my sob story. ✌ let's see if life brings us together someday. #ihopeso

It's just so easy to quit once you're no longer happy and are already having difficulty making the relation afloat. i remember listening to this song when i was a kid, hearing it on the radio, singing it with my siblings not even knowing the lyrics. I have listened to it recently without thinking anything of it. My boyfriend and i are having a really hard time right now and i can’t even explain how much i feel for these lyrics right now, physically i feel for it. I know we’re just kids but i have always felt like i’d know when i have found the one, but i’ve learnt you don’t find the one, it doesn’t come to you, you have to learn to be the one for each other. I have completely changed myself for this guy because i want to be with him forever, he has changed himself too and i learned along the way when someone is trying to change for you, don’t bring up old things. first, we’re both kids and we both did things we shouldn’t have and shouldn’t be doing. second as kids , if you’re in a relationship you have to learn to forgive a lot and that if you’re certain you want someone deeply, fight for them. put the pride, the ego, the pettiness away, you’re never going to clear anything up if you can’t think straight. if you can’t seem to find the calmness, think about all the reasons and memories that are good, and the good reasons to fight. just put it to the side. i want this man deeply, i just want the hard time to go away. i feel really hurt and alone and i just want his time but he’s not able to give it to me. and it hurts me because i really need him most. we’re both trying to not give up on each other, the spark left, i want to bring it back but im always the one who does recently, i just want him to try for me. i don’t know why we keep fighting. i feel unappreciated, no affection, no effort, i just feel pushed away. This song just gives me reason to just be patient like he was with me, i know he’s worth it. he’s perfect, he’s the sweetest boy. i have so many emotions and things to say, but i know i want this with him because i’ve never imagined this with anyone else. he’s my first everything and we both want to keep it that way. it’s so hard right now, but he’s my commitment. i know that when i agreed to be his girlfriend, i agreed to the arguments, the hard times, the loyalty, the complete commitment, the endless love, the forgiveness, the effort, the trust, i said yes for a reason.
