Im glad you spoke on this subject, although it's not that clear to me.This is one of the things that has me very confused. With everything that is happening right now there are so many people beating into my head that Jesus is coming soon, that this is now the time of his return. This confusion could be because of my Christian upbringing, although i did walk away from it years ago. I keep getting this back and forth pull that I had to shut out any and all religion for a while. Finally i had this urge to hear from you and waited for a particular video to show up, and here it is. When I was a Christian, I frequently wondered why and how a believer would not dive into the scriptures daily. If God breathed the words, why wouldn't you read it in its entirety AND do so having a clear message to share? Never met anyone who had a clear understanding let alone a complete familiarity of the bible.

Thank you Rabbi, I Love and learn things from you that I never learned in 40+ years as a Christian, I pray more Christians will do what you say and study the Tanakh, and see how the church changed it in their so called Old Testament to make it sound like Jesus, if they study they will find Jesus and his disciples were TORAH observant Jews, and not people who wanted to start a new religion, that was all Paul's doing, not Jesus.

it is truly sad that christians and atheists alike read the Bible with tinted glasses, without an open heart but rather to pick any verses that don't make sense to them or to fit their ideology in it. All you have to do really is see the incredible predictions and statements made in the Torah and one will see how only God could have authored the Torah (through Moses yes I know). Like how would a man ever make a claim that the camel, hyrax, rabbit, and pig will REMAIN with one kosher sign (either split hooves or chew its cud). AND 3000 YEARS LATER, not a single change to their structure, not through evolution, not through any new species found. Also how kosher fish that have scales (that are not part of the body of the fish) will ALWAYS HAVE FINS. How could Moses make such a statement? One species of fish that has scales but no fins would immediately render the Torah false. Alas we see that the Torah truly is the word of God and that is why many people in the world do acknowledge Moses as a prophet, truly amazing!

How many times did Moses go onto the mountain to receive the Torah? How many pieces of stone were broken? What were the people doing in his absence? Was anyone killed? How many were present at the crucifixion? How many were broken? What do the two broken represent? One blames G-d and given Law for his demise,other admits failure to live under the Law,repents and asks for forgiveness? One is forgiven and one is not? Who is in the center and why is he not broken? Why is he pierced and why flesh,water and blood? What was on the doors of people destroyer did not enter in Egypt? What and where is Egypt? What does parting of sea represent and where is the promised land? Why did Israel wander in the desert and for how many generations? What and where is the desert? Why Moses looks from far into the promised land and why from mountain again but cannot enter back then? Why is his body hidden? Where is he looking into? What was the promise given to Avram about? Were not his offspring blessed as sand on the seashore and as stars in heaven? Heaven? Earth? Was not he asked to sacrifice a son? Was Ram provided? What was the Ram tangled into? What was on Jesus head? Who killed Jesus,Israel or humanity as a whole? Be blessed.

I purchased The Artscroll English Tanach, pocket edition. Do I read it every day…no. I don’t know why. I seem to understand better when I hear you teach what the Hebrew Bible teaches. Also, being 62 years old now, I feel that it’s too late for this “ leopard” to change his spots, meaning sinful ways. Can you give some words of advice or direction with these feelings. Sir I am from India. Rabi every person is created by God in His Image and He speaks to everyone with wisdom he requires him to acknowledge HIM. If you preach the Bible without Jesus then your Judaism is no use to so-called Gentiles then your Judaism is one of the local religions.I believe in God of Abhram etc only due to Lord Jesus. The Jewish tradition admits that the Messiah can also be a person that passed away already (i.e. it could be Moses, king David, or Jesus or Rebbe Menachem Schneerson). Thus Christian interpretation is just one of the accepted Jewish interpretations.

Jesus isn't the son of g-d. You won't find one mention in the Hebrew scriptures that the god of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the Jewish people has a son. But like most Christians do you will read the Hebrew scriptures out of context in which it was written and say "look here that says he has a son".

How about that land promise to Abraham, is that going to be during the second coming too?

Thank you kindly for this initial breakdown as to why at the highest levels of Judaism the Rabbis, etc., have essentially rejected the claim that Jesus/Yeshua is the Messiah. I suspect you have answered my follow up (and if so, if you could point me to the material where you do so in detail that would be very helpful), however, should Yeshua/Jesus in fact come back a second time as Christianity claims and, in my hypothetical scenario, during our lifetime ultimately fulfills the prophecies as the Christian form of prophecy might suggest, would you accept him as the Messiah? Basically the argument produced here is reductionist at it's core (i.e. because the fulfillment hasn't happened "in full" and other messianic figures have appeared that have made similar claims, it is "definitely false" .... logically leaves a little bit of a gap/potential problem as it is in fact still possible that later they will be fulfilled - even if this would be true of any of these figures.)

Tovia, I would like to challenge your view on a second coming of The Messiah. According to the Hebrew scriptures, the Messiah's earthly journey begins as the Branch from the lineage of David. An intriguing aspect arises when this same figure is granted all-encompassing authority, glory, and dominion over all nations, while inheriting an indestructible kingdom, as depicted in Daniel 7:13-14 (RSV). This event transpires in a celestial realm before the throne of the Ancient of Days. This leaves two potential scenarios: Either the Messiah experienced a mortal fate, or like Elijah, he was ascended into heaven while alive. My question then is why His return to Earth, adorned with newfound glory and authority, shouldn't be regarded as a second coming, irrespective of whether His initial appearance before G_d resulted from a mortal passing or a celestial conveyance while alive? Furthermore, when Daniel interprets Nebuchadnezzar's dream [chapter2,verse 44 (RSV)], he asserts that the establishment of the Davidic kingdom would occur during the era of the fourth kingdom [directly correlated with the Roman Empire]. Daniel's proclamation is certain and unwavering in interpretation. If we consider these events to have unfolded within the Roman Empire's timeline, would it not follow that a prominent figure - during the reign of those rulers - would have had to have emerged as the deserving candidate in order for Daniel's interpretation to be fulfilled? Please consider my questions as excluding any references to a trinity, virgin birth, or doctrines contrary to the explicit tenets of the TaNaK. My intention is only to explore these matters from a standpoint based solely on the Hebrew bible.
