The down right easiest way in my opinion to catch fish. Not only fish in general but decent gamefish. Super simple rigging and just straight forward fishing.

During the hottest time of the year in CT when striped bass and bluefish aren't as active and the porgy bite is slow, I enjoy using my 6'6" medium power Berkley Lightning Shock spinning rod with 10 pound braid to bottom bounce with a half ounce bucktail and cast with half ounce spoons for the fun of catching sea robins and fluke and to make it easy to at least catch fish. I use the same setup with small presentation plugs, spoons, soft plastics, and topwaters when there's hardly any bigger striped bass and bluefish around. That way I can at least still catch plenty of fish with fun fights instead of going heavier and bigger with a lower chance of catching fish.

hey lawson, love your videos. Up here in jacksonville almost everyone uses a plain jighead with a live shrimp. By far the most popular way people fish inshore for reds and flounder. i disagree that a big fish wont hit a smaller live shrimp, i think youll just catch alot more little fish that way.

Bait shop guys are good folks but you need to have "a guy" that always hooks you up with the biggest and best baits. Do what you have to to get in good with the bait shop. If dude likes beer, bring him a 12 pack. Always get a fishing report from them and if you have a good day and have a keeper or two, return to the shop and see if they want some fish. Take care of them and they will take care of you. Hell, I've had guys with no bait at the shop tell me to hold on and they went and got me fresh mahara on the spot when they were turning others away. Never hurts to have good friends in the right places. But you need to be that person too.

Depends on what you want to catch and how experienced you are, also where you are. But assuming you are going to be throwing lures and can tie a few knots, a leader section of 30lb flouro carbon or monofilament leader tied to a mainline with either a swivel or line to line knot is pretty basic but effective. Basically exactly what Lawson is using here will catch fish pretty much anywhere. Its all about finding fish activity.
