I like Killua, he's definitely a great character, but he's also the one character that doesn't make sense, his background story has many contradictions and plot holes, so I don't agree with him being the best HxH character. On the other hand, I like Gon a lot, he's pure, humble, generous, well-mannered, loyal, optimistic, he cares for the people and for nature, he's a true gentleman and he has that childish innocence at the same time; he also has a huge potential for growth, he might be a little bit slow to realize complicated things, but he's no dummy, on the contrary, he's pretty smart, his goals are simple and clear (unlike Killua who pretty much doesn't have goals) and he also inspires change and goodness in those he comes across (He may have even changed Gensuru and his team too). I think Gon doesn't get enough recognition because people are too attracted to other characters, but it is Gon the one that motivates them to be better and to not give up, he's not just great for being Ging's son, he's great because Mito-san taught him well, that's why Gon is the best HxH character.
