I kinda miss they had to omit the fact that Brutus is actually just a big, loveable lug. The whole guardsman thing is just him making sure no one invades the bush. Probably one of the only things the sequel movie got right.

Even more so in the book…. She helped Mr Ages give Brutus the antidote for the poison. Mr Ages couldn’t hold his head and give him a few drops but when Mrs Frisby arrived, she held his head. Brutus was born after the escape from NIHM, and he was the biggest rat in the colony!😊

But for real can we talk about the incredible environment work that was in this movie. Look at these backgrounds and environment animation, listen to that audio... I think even more then the art of animation itself, animation directors have almost COMPLETELY forgotten that particular aspect of the art, despite it being widespread in the 80s.

computers are a tool in the drawer not the drawer itself. hand drawn water colors for an animated movie will tend to look better than a lot of computer made stuff

If you think about it Mrs. Brisby and Jeremy’s friendship is quite similar to Marlin and Dory’s relationship in Finding Nemo respectively. Even in terms of their individual personalities it’s similar. You got the main character who’s a single parent going through so much to save their child. While also have the supporting character who’s purpose is supply the humor and try to assist the main character.

Maybe (except the single parent part) is a common character friendship stuffs since many many years of history of writing. It's kinda common to have duo taking on journey.

And there's the fact that Dory was actually quite the asset in finding Nemo (insert rimshot here). She read the address on the goggles, giving Marlin some direction where to go, she inadvertently provided a quick way to their destination where Nemo is, and she gave Marlin the push to just go. Just keep swimming.

biggest sin of this movie is that Brutus was only used for one scene. imagine if Jenner's sword was blocked by Brutus's electrified spear as he tries to strike Mrs. Brisby and the final fight in the movie is Jenner vs both Justin and Brutus who are protecting her.

You briefly see him when Justin throws the ropes up to him, to secure the Brisby home. But it's a fleeting moment. Would have been good to explore his character a bit more.

As frightening and fierce as Brutus was, you can see that he's not really trying to hurt Mrs. Brisby, just drive her away. He only looks like he's threatening to hurt her, but his attacks always miss on purpose. If he'd really wanted to hurt Mrs. Brisby he would have done so. He's simply doing his duty as a guard

@@alexshaykevich509 Yes, but notice the hesitation before the jabs and slices are carried through. If the big rat with the huge spear wanted the tiny little mouse dead, she would have been. He clearly was trying NOT to kill her- he gives her time and room to escape before at least two of those strikes.
