I actually really like Supreme Kai. He is no weakling! The thing is that combat is NOT his thing. Yeah he pretty much sucks at his job but he is not without potential of being amazingly useful (he just isn't when we need him).

Destroyers need to be powerful fighters, to quote King Kai "kind of a job requirement". Creators don't really need to fight but need other abilities destroyers wouldn't need to have. Shin can travel across the multiverse instantly, WHIS can't even do that. I think of the Supreme Kais the same way as the manga is now showing the Yardrats, not being necessarily strong but having insane abilities.

I've always find it funny that the GoD's don't seem that concerned with their Supreme Kai's protection considering their lives are linked. Supreme Kai's get not bodyguard or teacher. I would think they'd want the Angels to teach them both.

I really liked his design! At the time when he was introduced it was really interesting and kinda unique to him. Seeing new characters with cool designs was one of the best part of dragon ball Z. Something that Super doesn't have to that extent. Beerus and Whis are problaby two exceptions

If I had to guess, I'd say he's as strong as Vegeta before Cell games. As for Piccolo, I agree with you; less struck by Supreme Kai's strength, but more so his status, who he knows, and the fact that some reason, the gods are getting involved with mortal affairs.

i've always hated how the Supreme Kai's character was written. He should've been an awesome, mysterious, and powerful being. Awesome not only in strength but also knowledge. they ruined his character.

I'm not really sure why people crap on Supreme Kai. Yes he clearly miscalculated how powerful the Saiyans were, and probably should have kept a better eye out on that galaxy, but he was doing a much better job than Beerus ever did. Shin was doing the best he could, as the role of Grand Supreme Kai was kind of forced on him, so he wasn't really experienced yet. Shin is the one who at least tried to stop Buu. Generally Supreme Kais aren't supposed to interfere very much, unless they are attacked or they are dealing with universal threats. Shin is the one that went to Earth and stopped Buu from being released, therefore saving everyone. Maybe he could have enlisted help from dead fighters, but even though he has power, he still has rules to follow, and we don't know all the rules they have to abide by. Otherwise, they can just get a whole army of dead folks to help them. Even Yemma mentioned that 2nd chances are extremely rare. If Shin didn't do what he did, he'd die, which means Beerus would be dead, which means Whis would be inactive. Beerus didn't do jack against Buu all this time. Didn't even do anything with Frieza either, even though he could have easily killed him. At least with Shin, it kind of makes sense why he didn't stop Frieza because he's not really supposed to and Frieza wasn't a universal threat like Buu was. Frieza wanted control, but not destruction. Did people just forget that? That Supreme Kais almost never interfere in general? The same goes for other universes. They aren't really supposed to just drop in and interfere. That's the God of Destruction's job. Maybe the mortal level would have been higher if Beerus didn't keep Buu and Frieza around when they destroyed many innocent lives. Beerus kind of sucks at his job. xD When he's not sleeping or eating, he will destroy and it's usually for stupid reasons. Shin basically saved everyone, including Beerus' life. Future Shin made Future Trunks his apprentice, which actually did help out in the battle against Zamasu, too.

I think slightly above Full Power SSJ1 makes sense. As far as freezing Gohan, Vegeta says he's not as powerful as when he fought cell later on in the Buu saga, so I think it wasn't so much magic or that he was stronger than SSJ2, just Gohan's SSJ2 was really weak at that point. Meanwhile Goku and Vegeta were not only using SSJ2, they were pushing the limits of the form at the time. For scaling sake I think slightly above SSJ but just below SSJ2 is a good ball park.

Geeky, very good job on the video. One comment though, Shin already knew about Goku's ability to turn into SSJ2. There was that brief moment where he did it against Yakon, which was in fact the trigger for Vegeta to turn to Babidi for help. If Shin can hold SSJ2 Gohan down, I doubt SSJ1 Goku can take him out with a single ki blast. I would place him somewhere between SSJ1 and 2 Goku. He probably just felt threatend that Goku might escalate things and wipe him out easily, which he was more than capable of doing.

Aside from Zamasu, the Supreme Kais don't seem to be fighters. But I think he's actually stronger than Perfect Cell, and obviously weaker than Majin Buu. One of the very reasons why Supreme Kai got involved in mortal affairs is because he knew that Majin Buu was being revived and that Majin Buu was one of the first known mortals who was strong enough to kill deities such as himself. If Cell was actually stronger than Supreme Kai, then he possibly would have made an appearance much sooner in the DBZ series, as the threat of his existence would have been on the line.

I think Supreme Kai's coolest ability is the 'Kai Kai' -- the ability that he uses to teleport. It's a lot better than Goku's instant transmission (since he doesn't have to lock onto energy). He can also move much more quickly than either Beerus or Whis.

Yeah, so I recently blazed through all of DBS, both anime and manga, after having reignited my love for DBZ through a certain Chinese fanfic. And it's funny, as a kid I used to think the Supreme Kai was "useless" compared to how overblown his title and position in the universe was, but somewhere along the way (DBZ didn't air in my country) I somehow managed to shift my perspective and realize that, no, the Supreme Kai was in fact pretty strong, and probably "strong enough" to hold his position and do his job, it's just that Goku and his friends were rather big anomalies. And, of course, Buu was some kind of ancient nightmare. So yeah, I agree with the guide placing him somewhere around there. Anyway, this "Shin" or whatever shouldn't be ranked according to his "combat capability" or "power level", but rather how much useful lore/exposition he can spout, how many tricks he can pull (kaikai, potara, safe planet, make you lift a heavy sword, his senpai unlocks your potential, etc), and how his existence itself now is a pillar of the DB cosmology or whatever, even if everyone's boners are firmly pointed at Beerus' flashy powew lewel.
