Its not so much a nerf for all spellcasters as it is a simplification. Every class has the same or greater cap than they had previously, minus 3 spells for Cleric and Druid specifically since they are full casters that prepare from the list of ALL of their spells any given day, so they probably should have less than Wizard. Wizard has to find or track down whichever spells they don't pick up while levelling, so their selection needs to be a bit more careful. The below info is based on the UA since we don't know the final totals in the actual book yet, but these should be close enough. Bard: starts with 4, ends with 22 in both versions. Cleric: starts with 4, ends with 22, was up to level + WIS in 2014 (3 more than 2024 if you maxed WIS). Druid is the same as Cleric. Paladin starts with 2, ends with 15, was up to half your level + CHA in 2014 (less than 2024 unless you maxed CHA, which few paladins did). Ranger starts with 2, ends with 15, was 2 to 11 in 2014 (4 less than 2024). Sorcerer: starts with 2, ends with 22, was 2 to 15 in 2014 (7 less than 2024). Warlock: starts with 2, ends with 15 in both versions. Wizard: starts with 4. ends with 25, was up to level + INT in 2014 (exactly the same with max INT).
