Ironically, people leave it for last because it's the worst; people think that making it last will make it easier (since they'll have more weapons, more health, better armour, etcetera)

I always rushed Thunder first, even if it much harder with the weak equipment, because I knew that the rest of the blights got stronger in some way after defeating one of them. Thanks to this video, I shall make this my strategy every time, whenever I decide to return to BoTW.

Man I first attempted it as my second beast (waterblight was the 1st) and it kicked my ass so bad I put the game down for a couple months. Then I went and did windblight and grinded shrines until I had full stamina, the master sword and upgraded ruins and thunder blight still took a couple tries. This was my first Zelda and I did play the game completely blind for the most part except from advice from a couple friends.

My route has always been thunderblight, then waterblight because Miphas grace is helpful to me and it takes 6 urbosas furys, which I think stacks nice, then windblight cause I can never for the life of me remember how to get up death mountain correctly, and finally fireblight which is the only one my phone doesn’t want to autocorrect

The hp scaling really makes the game unique and definitely adds some challenge going later throughout the game, and i love how they make all the blights in the castle 2000hp to encourage the player to head to the divine beast. Theres also most of these properties i never knew how some attacks have damage scaling because i usually make quick work of them lol

The damage scaling isn't super significant enough to notice half of the time (unlike the health scaling) but it's still important and neat that it's there!!! I really appreciate the 2000hp sanctum blights as well for that same reason

I didn't think of it when I first fought Waterblight. But then, in the DLC Champions' Ballad rematch, they didn't provide me with enough arrows to kill it with arrows alone, so after spending way too long not knowing what to do, I finally decided to try stasis launching the blocks.

@@ProffesionalIdiot Cryonis can break the ice blocks, but stasis can allow you to hit them back at Waterblight for pretty significant damage. And in the Waterblight rematch in the Champions' Ballad DLC, you're only given a small number of arrows and a few Zora spears, making stasis-launching the ice blocks arguably the best strategy.

This video just makes me wish even more that the blights still did their boss rush even after beating all four divine beasts in master mode; having them as a final refresher course before diving down to face the final boss would have been a lot of fun and amped up the challenge. Also, now I'm curious how much of the game you can do using only parries as your source of damage.
@Croton
@Croton Жыл бұрын
Honestly it would be cool to have them all before Ganon still! But I get why they aren't, it would throw off the whole sense of reward of doing them before hand I guess in that way, it encourages multiple playthroughs of the game so you can play again just to rush the sanctum!
@MarcusTalks1
@MarcusTalks1 Жыл бұрын
Honestly if the refights happened after beating them, it would be more rewarding to see how strong they could be. Also it really doesn’t make sense that they can be in the castle and control the beast at the same time.
@ebonysable6093
@ebonysable6093 Жыл бұрын
According to PointCrow's video on beating Breath of the Wild without a shield, you can beat a straight to Ganon run using only parries except for second phase Waterblight. He was only able to beat second phase Waterblight with moonjumps and a lynel shield. He did have to use a bomb against Fireblight, but only because he wasn't willing to switch away from the lynel shield in order to parry the fireball.

haven't picked up BOTW in months but this is reminding me how brilliant of a game it is and motivating me to pick it back up! One question: if you leave a beast during a blight fight, go defeat another divine beast, and then go back to that first fight, how are the blights scaled? (Specifically, I'm thinking about my first playthrough when I got my ass handed to me by Thunderblight so many times that I left the fight, took down Windblight, and then went back to Thunder. Because Thunderblight was the third blight I began fighting but the fourth one that I defeated, how many HP did he have once I eventually defeated him?)
@Croton
@Croton Жыл бұрын
I'm glad you asked!! The game only counts the blight kill itself as triggering the scaling, so if you back out of your first blight fight, you could go to any other beast/blight and it will still be at the first! Then if you return to the original one after, it'll be at its second. When making this video I actually made a save after finishing all 4 beasts terminals but before the blight fights, so I could test all them at their different scaling orders!

Something you missed about master mode, is that Calamity Ganon has a very special property in master mode. Normally during the 2nd phase there’s a glitch that speedrunners like to use using the spin of a claymore that puts him in a stunlock. But when playing in master mode this glitch is actually fixed so you have to fight him legit. It’s pretty cool seeing them account for speedrunners since they always run normal mode.

Even with the HP scaling, they were still rather easy to me. I do wish they respawned during a Blood Moon if you choose not to free the Divine Beast yet, though. Maybe not in the Divine Beast (although it's not like they're actually back under Link's control if you choose not to interact with the main control module after the fight, as Naboris still electrocutes you if you travel too close to it, so it could still probably work out), but maybe in the castle before Ganon.

I'll never understand how you have the patience for projects like this, but your videos are always informative. I'm surprised they didn't have Calamity Ganon get stronger with each Phantom Ganon you kill, that way people probably would've complained less about the final boss being too easy. I like that the Divine Beasts actually give you an advantage in gameplay, but they could've had him hit harder with each Divine Beast you free. I guess they tried a little bit, though, since even with fully upgraded armor he can do two hearts of damage to Link.

My 1st divine beast was this windblight and I really thought this action 12:30 meant its time to do a finisher with an arrow as soon as it stood still and a pink circle formed over the blue center dot like a target with a sliver of its health remaining. It just went into the death scene screen cinematic after shooting the arrow, no blue laser beam had a chance to come out. Those bows you get from Rito are pretty good are targeting those tiny little circles.

5:24 - this is the first video I've seen that shows a player successively parrying blasts in a row. I've been trying to do this lately and wasn't sure it was possible with the time delay/slow motion effect. Now I'll keep trying :)

Awesome video, very instructive as always. I suppose the Champion's Ballad blights are all Sanctum-level?

Great video. Interested to see how the refights in DLC are different too. I think they have 1500hp or something and some have different weaknesses... I think they also have different weakness to fury

i have an idea that would be really cool if it was in totk. What if the blights are there and when you kill one, their weapon goes into your special items tab. You can put it on links weird arm and use it, however it has a cooldown timer like the master sword. Maybe windblight's gun would cost an ancient part each use and if you tried to throw it, you would shoot a laser like a guardian at the cost of an ancient core. I just think that would be a really fun way to play the game.

I've never even seen calamity ganon do the blight attacks aside from the fire axe:O and I've beat him at least 4 times

Some of these attacks only happen before he gets to his halfway, so they are easily missable! (Wind, thunder, and ice attacks specifically)

when i was modding the game (at the time to give myself infinate flight + cimbing + a few other things) I think i saw some of the variables you are talking about here.

Loved this video and would love and behind the scenes! I wonder what the stats are when you fight them as a memory in the DLC? Is it the same as in wherever you go first has the smallest health?

Thank you I appreciate it!! I still need to look into those, I heard somewhere that they have 1500 health but I would need to test all of this myself including damage/reflections!

I would really like a video on how elemental effects and/or runes work in age of calamity, because there’s a lot at work there.

I didn’t know that you could throw a bomb at him while Fireblight charged that blast so I relearned how to parry my first time fighting him. Naturally I couldn’t do anything when I challenged him again during Champion’s Ballad lol

Thunderblight first and Fireblight last (with upgraded flame breaker) sounds like the easiest order

I was today years old when I learned you could parry some/most of the Blights' attacks (though, it seems kinda obvious, now that I think about it.)

from an aesthetic and storyline point of view, I think the Blight Ganons should’ve been corrupted or possessed versions of the various Champions.
