Wow, I have never related to a video this much before, especially as someone who's naturally talented and hasn't really had to study for exams, even in advanced classes. I went from advanced to online to advanced to normal and the constant switching was so taxing on my system. The beginning of my first semester of junior year were some of the worst months of my academic life, I didn't have As some of my classes and I even failed my highest weighted unit exam for the first time. I managed to pull my grades up in those classes by over 10% and even killed my math final. Now, I have A+s in all my classes and I'm slowly getting back on track to the level I know I can be at. Thanks for being an inspiration, especially for someone aiming for the same majors you applied for.

That whole schtick about being “naturally talented” is seriously cringe. I really hope people realize that one day.

Heh, as a PhD student who isn't taking courses anymore, most of this isn't really relevant, except one thing - Notion. It greatly helps you be organised in undergrad, but isn't critical as the courses themselves are intrinsically structured. In contrast, for grad school it's absolutely critical since you have to make your own structure. I have Notion pages for everything - daily tasks, papers I've read, videos I've watched, programming tips, cool machine learning methods I picked up, etc. etc.

This relates a little more to the beginning of the video, but as someone who was also placed into summa in middle school, especially right after going back to in-person after covid, I think it was really helpful. Since it was so jarring being placed into curriculum that reached my limits and not being able to slack of at all, I struggled a bit at the start of the school year. Thankfully, after the second half of the year, it got me into the routine of studying, completing homework, and focusing in class. Which I think is similar to your story. (Though obviously it didn't matter much in middle school)

I can't stress enough the importance of sleep and having a consistent bedtime: the knowledge learned during the day becomes encoded in synapses during the first cycle of sleep. You MUST have a consistent bedtime to catch that period of sleep because your body's circadian clock doesn't wait for you. Dr. Huberman says that a common marker of good neurological health when we get older is consistent bedtimes. Depriving yourself of sleep, especially when growing during your teen years, is like depriving yourself of growth and development.

I got 9 hours of sleep in high school every night. Some people equate being busy with less sleep. This isn’t necessarily true. I was an extremely busy high schooler involved in clubs, sports, businesses, and ECs. Still made time for sleep! You can do it, everyone!

Hi Rishab, can you go over one of the mock exams and walk us through how you would approach the exam. I am already aware of the tips on the website but I don't know how to approach the multiple choice. I am very confused on mock exam 3 question 3 because the explanation doesn't make sense to me. You are teaching to ignore certain properties and elements in the material provided, granted that will work in getting a perfect score but that does not teach the ethics of innovation, many breakthroughs were solely due to small details that were hidden in plain sight that were once again, ignored.
