I have discovered the secret to a seamless faux brick panel wall and it shall not be a secret any longer! Tell your sister, tell your best friend and tell everyone in between!
This hack is the best way (and only way IMO) to use these brick panels. By German schmearing, it completely hides that seam!

One of the first videos I watched about these wall panels was a couple who did as you’re doing, and they were almost crying in frustration.

Oh it wasn’t bad! You have to cut all the grout out to help them fit together easiest.

Its beautiful! Thanks for the info. I have to ask. I bought these exact panels for my basement remodel. The really smell. Did you panels smell and did the smell go away after you used the quick set on them?

Looks beautiful! I have to say that your faux brick wall is the nicest I've seen. I want to do this but I have to ask if you've had any issues with the mortar sticking to the panel or crumbling afterward. I've seen comments in other tutorials stating to use joint compound or spackle as mortar does not stick. Any issues with adherence? Also is it washable?
@olivegreyavenue
@olivegreyavenue Жыл бұрын
I’ve had no issues with its durability but I’d say it isn’t washable however I’ve never tried

I was curious, if you wanted more brick to show through would you use less product or wipe it off with a rag? If you wipe it away how much time do you have? Looks great. Can't wait to see finished area.
@olivegreyavenue
@olivegreyavenue 2 жыл бұрын
You could really do either! I would probably lean towards wiping it off so that it does get some coverage and then you can take a wet sponge and wipe the desired amount off. It doesn't dry super fast but the thinner the coat, the faster it will dry.

What did you use to make it stick to the wall! It feels like I’ve tried every substance! On a spot that has concrete I guess it’s to the DIY faux for me on that part of the wall LOL
@olivegreyavenue
@olivegreyavenue Жыл бұрын
I just used construction adhesive and some brad nails to hold it in place while it dries. For a concrete wall, brad nails wouldn’t work but you could use a strong tape to hold it in place while the glue dries. Hope that helps!

Your video has inspired me to do this as a feature wall in our living room. I’m just wondering do you have to seal it? Does the wall kick off a lot of “dust”? I am just worried that I’m going to be vacuuming up white wall dust all the time?
@olivegreyavenue
@olivegreyavenue 2 жыл бұрын
I’m glad to help with some inspiration! You can definitely seal it if you want but there is no dust that comes off it. They only reason it may do that is if abrasive things run up against it continually.

Question, what if I don’t want to paint the panels. You think just finding a grout that matches really good and use slot just in the grout lines and then cleanup the bricks will work?
@olivegreyavenue
@olivegreyavenue Жыл бұрын
It could definitely work. I personally wouldn’t use the panels if they’re not painted or shmeared because you’ll be able to tell they aren’t real brick but if that doesn’t bother you, it’ll work!

@@olivegreyavenue I’m thinking of doing my garage just for a background for my arcade games. So it’s cool if it looks a little fake. I’m hoping to get a grout close enough so I can just use on the seams and feather it out so I don’t have to do all the grout lines

I cut the half brick and all the “mortar” away so there’s extra room to fit together and then you can do extra trimming as needed with a multitool.
