Jennifer Cohen, notable healthy lifestyle writer, entrepreneur, podcaster, and spokesperson shares her ‘10% Target Mindset’ which encourages people to be BOLD by asking for what they want, versus taking what is given to them. The challenge is to practice asking for what you really want and getting comfortable with “no’s” (roadblocks) along the way. Her talk is filled with fun personal anecdotes and some practical steps for getting anything you want in life. Listen in. This event was curated by Jercori Freeman. Jennifer has not only dominated the fitness industry, but she continues to change the game by helping others level up physically and mentally. Jennifer is a 3x best selling author , Health and Wellness entrepreneur, and leadership columnist for Forbes.
She also co founded the fitness app Hot 5 which was acquired by Weight Watchers in 2015.
Jennifer is a highly regarded Confidence Coach with a specific focus on building healthy habits and behavioral change. In 2019, Jennifer took her passion and turned it into one of the fastest rising, regularly ranked podcasts, Habits And Hustle, that brings together top authorities and thought leaders in their respective fields to discuss the tools needed to succeed in an ever changing world. Jennifer was recently named "100 Most Influential People in Health and Fitness" by Greatist and ranked #16 "Most Impactful Fitness Entrepreneurs" by Web MD. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

That is true, I have struggled for the same for a decade but I think I have finally found something I believe to be really what I want. Finding this purpose or passion also requires trying to think, knowing yourself and asking yourself questions. Failing 9/10 times to finding your purpose, Yes this theory applies here too.

Our next gen is struggling with this. The problem could be the amount of options and lack of dedication. I really believe it is because instead of aligning with REAL life coaches, they are watching KZfaq videos and comparing themselves to those profiting from clickbait like magic and stupidity. Quick and easy is a distraction. Get to work, complete your commitments, and try to enjoy the ride. When you fail, pinch yourself, count your fingers and toes then look up to make sure their are no bars in your view.. then grow and be thankful for the experience.

Shes right. I had an old boss that made me an offer to work for him and i turned him down because i didn't want to work for the pay he offered. He then called me back and offered me a $5 an hour raise for the same job, and i took it. However, i ended up quitting several months down the line because i didn't like the way he treated me. A few weeks later he called me back to apologize and said i was one of the best at what i do that He's ever had. I still turned him down. Today i am attempting to start my own business in my field, and i already have several potential customers lined up. I'll let you know how it goes in a couple years! This is how God set it up. Life is a gift, no matter how things may look. Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." God is intentional. He has created all of us for a specified purpose. Whatever TRUE dream that you have in your heart, look at it as a gift from God that's given you to indicate that it is already yours. Try try and try and remember when one door closes God will surely open up another one for you. Trust him in Jesus name.

I just came to this realisation recently. There's a guy who grew up in the slums in Uganda, became a rich pop star, and now is on the verge of becoming president, ending a 35 year dictatorship. When I examined his story carefully, he reminded me of the Nike tagline, just do it! You can find the guy in Facebook, he's called Bobi Wine

I once boldly walked about to a famous Hollywood movie director and asked if I could gather some experience on his set, because I wanted to become a director, as well. He wasn't even hesitating for a second and said "yes". That moment, that bold move, changed everything in my career. The worst thing that can happen is that people will say "no" and you leave it at that. But if you never try, you'll never know. Be polite. Tell them honestly what your intentions are. Stay calm and professional. The right people will help you no matter how famous they are.

This was so inspiring. I've always felt held back and doubting etc. but this year I have decided to take more chances and go after what I want. It has been a bit scary so far but this video confirmed to me that it's important to take those chances. When I was a teen my art teacher asked us to write in our notebooks we had to hand in after each class what grade we thought we deserved at the end of the course. Normally, I probably would have written that I deserved an E or C, but that time I wrote that I thought I deserved an A and stated why. And she did give me an A! And I always wondered if she would've if I didn't ask for it.

For me, that guy is Manny Pacquiao. He grew up in poverty in the Philippines, which is much more severe than being poor in America. He often went without food. He slept on the street. He got paid $1 for his first professional fight. He fought just so he could earn some money to buy some rice. Best thing about Pacquiao? He was never invincible. He got knocked out early in his career, but he came back to become champion again. He then got knocked out AGAIN, but rose up and became champion AGAIN. Then he got knocked out really badly by Marquez, yet, once again, Emmanuel Pacquiao rose up to become champion AGAIN. In life, people talk about "getting back up after getting knocked down." But in boxing, one has to LITERALLY do this. It's not just a figure of speech. Boxing is brutal both mentally and physically. Manny Pacquiao is much bigger than even Rocky Balboa. He's an 8 time world champion who came from nothing. He is loved in America and idolized in the Philippines. He literally hands out food and money in the Philippines. He has never forgotten where he came from. And now he wants to help his people by getting in to politics. He gives Filipinos hope.

The irony is, she only asked Keanu once....he phoned her back twice, he was persistent...

I used to watch this talk thinking about my dream job. I got motivated to try 10 times, and then I got it on the second try. Be bold, take action, break your fear of failure. Only YOU decide what the end of your current chapter will read like.

What happened after you joined this job ? Do you like it there ? For me, my mind is filled with the aftermath of achieving that dream job, whether I would be a worthy employee there or will I be a misfit and suffer from impostor syndrome all the time. Preparing to crack the interview for a few months is different than actually belonging there. This kind of demotivates me.

no need to chase. Just set your intent, follow your intuition, and perfect yourself. Your heart will never lead you astray

I instinctively relate to Jennifer's comments about boldness but you also need the correct blend of skill and caution to add to the mix for any venture to succeed
