I've commented this before, but I seriously love your skill, passion, and knowledge of seiko and horology/watchmaking altogether

It was your good self that got me onto the 7A movements with this specific video. I first ended up with the gold Bond watch, as you rightly said, it was cheap. It does need some work as the minute hand is loose, but otherwise is in great condition with the chrono working perfectly. My watch maker recons he can fix the minute hand easily. However, the gold watch is no longer as cheap as it used to be... in fact, none of these 7A watches are cheap now. I think you and a couple of other KZfaqrs let the genie out the bottle 5 years ago and got more people interested. Recently, I finally got my hands on a late Gen1 RAF watch (issues in 1990). My local watchmaker's face lit up when he saw one on my wrist - he also says it is one of the best chrono quartz movements in his opinion. The last 7A I really want is the "Bishop" - I love the look of it. The South African issued watch is also of interest... but I've not tried to hunt them out yet. But after getting the Gen1 RAF watch... I am on the hunt for a Gen2 with the less impressive 7T27 movement. I have a civilian version of the Gen1 Pulsar watch that replaced the Gen2 Seiko. Which means I need a Gen2 Pulsar to complete the set of RAF watches. But I won't be trying to hunt down issued watches in each case, especially for the later Pulsar ones - they seem to command too much for what are essentially disposable watches.

My 7a38-7060 is from 1988. Just had it fully serviced and all the seals replaced. It's currently running +/-0 seconds/day. Amazing.

Thank you for another great video. Yours is my favorite channel on KZfaq. I own three 7a38s and find that I wear them a lot. A great addition to this video would be one where you explain all the functions. I've seen you do some things in your evaluation videos that I don't know how to replicate and don't know why I would. Basically I feel like this watch can do more than I know. Keep up the great work. Also enjoying your new Friday reviews.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge about this Seiko 7A Quartz movement. There are so many few information about Quartz movements. And collectors sometimes overlook them over the mechanical movements. But any serious collectors should have a few quartz in their collection ( like I do ) because they are part of the watch history same as for the current digital watch trend. Besides vintage quartz are more affordable for most of them ( unless vintage Tuna lol ). It would be great if you could compare vintage Swiss quartz ( like ESA ) vs Japanese quartz. Regarding Digital watch, Seiko launch their own digital watch the Tuna Solar ref. SBEP ( personally I look it as the G-Shock competition but still keep the Tuna Diving functionality ); I would like your opinion about it.

I just bought a Seiko 7A38-7280 for 180 bucks which I think is a steal but it's been really complicated to find extra links and I've got thick wrists sadly. Sometimes I wish I was a lesser man. (Just a joke. Skinny doesn't mean you are a lesser man)

Spencer Klein I recently bought an H803 and the Seiko box it was in rattled, so I removed the inner tray and low and behold was an original hang tag for a Seiko 7a38-7070 , another lucky find is a Seiko 7a28-7020 "Bond" with a case back serial including 007 😁

Luckiest hang tag I ever found was an original "dual-time display" one for an H558 Arnie. It was in a watch lot of Seiko parts from a watchmaker's estate.

Great watch until recently had a 7a28 7040 Speedmaster Jdm model only sold it as didn't get as much wear as some other watches, trying to slim down the collection from 20 watches

Hey Spencer, I found a beautiful Seiko 7a38 7020 built in January 1984, coming in its original box. I've been looking for this watch for quite some time now. Got in touch with the guy who wants to sell it, and I already have a deal in place to buy it from him. However, there isn't any history past one previous owner who only had the watch for about a year. What would you do in this situation?
@SpencerKleinVintageWatch
@SpencerKleinVintageWatch Жыл бұрын
Make sure the watch is original, that all the registers work (even if one or more of the hands is only twitching - that counts), that the lume is good and clean, and the price is right. If that last one is in place along with everything else, buy the watch.

Hello Spencer, great video. What do you think of Seiko's 6T63 chronograph meca quartz movement. Seiko supplies that movement to micro brand watch manufactures under the VK63 and VK64 movement and are sold for a hefty price tag. I have seen them range in price from $300 to close to $800.

seiko vk63-vk64 are found in cheap watches, I have a 45$ fossil watch with that caliber interesting caliber at first sight with its sweeping chronograph hand and instantaneous reset to zero chrono hand caliber has a flaw, if you push halfway(gently) through the reset pusher the chrono hand will move a bit but will not reset to zero but somewhere in between the other 2 seiko calibers with sweeping chronograph hand and instantaneous reset to zero chrono hand are the 7L22 and 9T82 and the latter is almost a quartz chrono masterpiece and far superior to 7Axx 9T82 is seiko's best quartz chrono movement and arguably the best quartz chrono movement ever made
