The Pogue at the end of the video is mine, and I can testify that an amazing service job was done with this piece. I would recommend Ashton to anyone for a vintage Seiko service. I couldn't be more happy, and what a cool surprise to have my watch featured here as well.

@@danielchadney1666 Full overhaul on the movement, deep cleaning of the case and bracelet, and a replacement crystal. I was going to get the lume replaced but Ashton recommended that I keep the original lume intact since everything inside the crystal was in pristine shape (other than what was talked about in the video regarding the sub-dial).

I’m happy that other guy took his watch elsewhere, one less in front of my project. Just sent in my father’s 1639-6095 a few days ago. It is a 1971 model we gave him for his fire department retirement gift. He’s passed but always on my mind. I’ll proudly wear the watch in his memory. Cheers my friend.

Welcome back and good luck with your new workshop! I've seen hands in 6105s taken from 7005-8050, 8160s... they are quite similar, but your image is not very clear anyway. All the best

Hi. Pleased to have you again. I would like to see repairs made in the lathe; a description of your lathe, what do you use it for, and how far you have reached making small parts with it. Thanks!!

That brown dial 6139 I believe is also known as a Bruce Lee he owned one and there are photos of him wearing it, yes it’s a stunning watch along with that Pogue. Thanks for the shop tour and regards from New Zealand 🇳🇿

Thanks for the input! As far as I was aware, the Bruce Lee was the black dial version. Great to hear from a fellow Kiwi!

I just watched another KZfaq vid from “The Time Teller” Jorry Goodman I Ibelieve and he mentioned the Bruce Lee being a brown dial and being Hong Kong exclusive for one particular Seiko dealer in Hong Kong

Nice to see you again Ashton. Beautiful shop and nice equipment. I am envious. I am working on a Vietnam Vet's 6105-8110 Resist Diver with 6105B movement purchased overseas in 71 and combat worn.. The hands are identical to the one you show on the right. He mentioned to me the watch was sent in to Seiko about 20 years ago so I wonder if the hands were service replacement hands. I have the same question you do about the hands as these do not appear to be correct original but possibly a close match from another model installed during a previous service. John S

I was curious about running the Chronograph on the 6139 models... is it better for the movement to keep the chrono running, or not running? I think I read once that it was better for the movement to have the chronograph operating at all times. Thanks!

The 6139-6002 Resist dial shall be on 6139A movement instead of 6139B, the second hand shall a 2 piece type as well
@theseikologist
@theseikologist 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for your input. It's not quite correct, though. The early 'Proof' dials had the two piece second hand. The resist dials that came out in 1971 had the one piece second hand and no notched case. This watch is a December 1971. So, it should correctly have a resist dial, and a 6139B movement as 1971 was the year the 6139B changeover happened. This is also a 6139-6005 true Pogue, as can be seen by the dial variation. It's a correct watch as far as I am aware and the research that I have done. I'd welcome any feedback to the contrary, however.

I think those hands come from the original Navigator Timer 6110. 8:01
@theseikologist
@theseikologist 8 ай бұрын
They are very close, but they are slightly different. The navigator timer had a high point in the middle and the hand sloped down from there. These hands are flat on the top and and the slope down on either side of the flat. Exactly the same as the OG 6105 hands, just a little bit smaller.

I contacted these people and they are so busy that the shop is closed until March and and and they have a 16 week ( three months) turnaround until I’d get my watch back! Austin talks convincingly in the videos but do you really want your watch gone 16 weeks? In frustration he told me to take my business elsewhere. I just thought you all should know.
@theseikologist
@theseikologist 5 ай бұрын
My name is Ashton, not Austin. After you told me: “You think you’re special, there is no reason you need three months to repair a simple crown gasket. Not only am I not interested in you servicing my 6105 I am going to warn my friends to not even bother contacting The seikologist.” - I suggested we might not be the best fit for each other. I apologize about my turnaround time (which is actually closer to 4 months). I’m a one man business and I can only do so much, hence the turnaround time. My services are in high demand as there are very few watchmakers who specialize in vintage Seiko. I can’t change that, unfortunately.
