I disagree with you on the Gypse Rose situation. if she went to the police the mother could've easily said oh she's just off her medication going crazy saying whatever she wants. she escaped, her mom found her, chained her to a bed and starved her. so I don't think her situation is comparable to Nancy's.
@examichelle5 ай бұрын
Absolutely agree with you. People seem to forget that Gypsy was perceived by everyone as an ill child who was completely dependent on her mother, so if she had asked for help and/or told anything of what was really going on, everyone would have thought it was just a crazy product of her alleged mental illness, and most likely she would have been ignored. Her mother forced her to have medications and surgical procedures she never needed, which damaged her body for life. She tried to escape several times, she would have died if she stayed under her mother's "care." There's nothing anyone can say to me to make me see her as a monster. Gypsy Rose apologist all the way!
@misfit_raven43675 ай бұрын
While you make a point, it’s important to note that Gypsy could’ve absolutely proven all the fake illnesses to be bullshit. 1. The police were extremely shocked to find Gypsy walking after the murder. 2. She knew she was over the age of 18 and literally could’ve requested and consented to take tests, x-rays etc. even though she was allegedly manipulated by her boyfriend, she brought up the idea for murder and even attempted it with a fake gun she thought was real. It’s understandable why Gypsy rose would feel she had no other option, but the blatant truth is that she really did.

Thank you so much for sharing this story! A few discrepancies I noticed - Keith and Nancy were never married. Nancy claims she never knew about DOS and wasn’t involved in its creation until her daughter Lauren told her about it (once the federal government were after Keith). Keith had been promising Nancy’s daughter, Lauren, for YEARS that they would have a child together and completely brainwashed her into growing DOS. Would recommend watching the Vow to double check some facts. For example, Mark didn’t direct the Vow but was featured in it. Not to mention all the young girls Keith had groomed and abused before even starting ESP. But sooo fascinated with this story and glad to see you made a video about it!

We went to a party once with the founder of Amway and the house had to have been millions of dollars. It was all so bizarre because we were living on food stamps and yet my parents would still spend money on these products with the delusional idea it would make them like their rich friends. @Prettybaby76 ай бұрын
As someone who loves Smallvlille, seeing Allison Mack with this as her legacy is so jarring. She was truly a pillar in that show. It's almost as if she took pleasure in being instrumental in the Smallville storylines and took it way to heart, and continued working for covert groups even though this is real life and not a Superman show. It's a shame what she did to those women, and there's no going back from that. I understand she was under Ranier's control too, but still. Write and wrong is quite clear, even to children, let alone to someone who was as emotionally aware and present as Allison. She ruined her name and image and she deserves the backlash. I can barely even look at her anymore.

As soon as I hear literally *anyone* from literally *any* imaginable organization, religion, corporation, etc. start with the "Men are always this way and always are superior to women in basically every way." and "Women have a clearly-defined purpose and are always inferior to men in basically every way," my cult-o-meter *immediately* goes off, full volume. It's actually fascinated me for years that Keith seemed to want to disguise that aspect of his cult for new & prospective members, but as soon as people are fully "in" the cult he pulls out all the "Me Tarzan, she Jane" gender stereotypes. Usually cults that are really invested in women's supposed inferiority don't even bother to hide it, because they don't need to; women are already conditioned by society to believe they're inferior. But Keith had an interesting spin on it- he'd make it sound like NXIVM was a super-progressive, egalitarian organization to new & prospective members...then slowly disclose to them the *real* beliefs about women.
@erinrhianne6 ай бұрын
It also confirms my theory that this 'women are inferior to men and should submit to them' thing is a sexual fetish about 80% of the time. I'm a typically feminine woman, I don't view that as submissive in any way, it's just how I am. I see so much strength, dignity and power in that, and I'd be this way with or without a husband and I know that my power is my own and has nothing to do with men. I submit to no one but the Goddess. But occasionally on Tumblr where I used to talk about femininity, home keeping etc I'd get these 'trad' types following me, and some of them were sweet girls so I'd follow some of them back. Didn't take long though for me to start being recommend these kink blogs that were all about women being bimbos and serving men. I've never seen a 'trad' man on Tumblr that wasn't a porn addict, a lot of them were into stuff like l*licon too which is Pedophilia Lite. If you go on kink sites these people are all over them. The idea that women should submit to men can be cloaked in religious or secular evo-psych language but it's usually, the vast majority of the time, a thinly veiled dark fetish.

I understand being in a low point in your life where you’re lost and confused and could use guidance, but there has to be a line on when you start noticing you’re being taken advantage of??? Like him controlling your calories?? A nude photo shoot that only HE can see or has access to?? BRANDING YOU?? No freakin way. Did no one think that this was wayyy too much? Ugh, I feel bad they went through that, but I’m still struggling to understand HOW.

Most victims of cults aren’t at low points - they’re usually very intelligent and often influential, which is why cult leaders recruit them - it makes them seem like they aren’t taking advantage of people and it makes their cult seem like an exclusive society. They are powerful and manipulative, but don’t usually start that way - just like violent partners. And by the time things seem “off” victims aren’t able to leave as easily as they could have in the beginning because they’re programmed, they’ve lost contact with their friends and family, they’re sick and malnourished - the list goes on.

This was an amazing and interesting video! Thanks for researching everything and actually having morals when it came to the sentencing of all the people who were a part of the cult. It's incredibly fucked up what happened to these poor people and their families and how it was all kept hidden for so long. The fact that those who survived have to keep living knowing they were a part of something terrible is really sad. More videos like this would be sooo cool!

honestly, i can relate and understand, i used to get intrusive thoughts about death and my existence in itself, (growing up in a non religious household. Ive since found spirituality and its helped me alot. But honestly look at it this way, we are the universe. The same way a drop of water from the ocean, is still the ocean, we are the universe. We are energy and energy can not be destroyed. Our bodies die, but we dont. So many people who have experienced near death experiences report floating up and seeing their body from above. Our souls fly away to either experience something else, or to go back from where we came from, our true home, source. We are souls living a human experience. Stay safe and dont let your thoughts consume you ❤

I’m confused maybe I heard this wrong but if Keith was born in 1990 and he started the Colts in 1998 he was eight years old when he started it? This can’t be right.

oh my god the part 41:53 about him convincing a 12 year old girl to have sex with him so she’ll get mystical powers is so sad. that genuinly made me cry he’s preying upon her innocence so that she’ll do something with him that she shouldn’t even know about at that age

It’s times like this I’m so grateful I’m a misanthropic antisocial introvert. The group activities alone would have sent me screaming for the hills. If anyone ever creates a cult where you get to ignore each other’s existence, have absolutely no contact whatsoever, and all new members get a puppy, then I’m in trouble. Otherwise, I feel it’s fairly safe to assume I’m immune to any and all cults 😂 anyway, I could never join a group without my cats’ permission and they’d never allow me to serve a master other than them… All hail my furry feline overlords!

I dont know if I got this right, but Clare Bronfman's sister is Sara Bronfman, not Sarah Edmondson, who was branded and did the NYT article. Also, Keith and Nancy were never married, I think. I have just seen recently the vow on hbo, a docu series about this cult, and I like your content, but I think you got some things wrong covering this case
