Of all the movies to be remade I cant believe this hasn't been done yet. Hes a badass comic character who's alot stronger than people know. From radio to TV to movies his powers range from an expert in hand to hand combat. Expert marksmen. Can cloud mens minds to appear invisible. Telekenisis he can shape shift his face. Hes an animal

alot of people dont know batmans character was based off of the shadow. a crime fighter to be feared at night. and man that laugh, still i dont think there is a superhero or villian whos laugh alone strikes fear in the hearts of everyone. epic voice. i just hope if they make a new shadow they can recreate the same voice and laugh.

Michael Joesph Technically, it's all the Shadow as Bill Finger openly admits they took a Shadow novel, Partners in Peril, and basically copied it near word for word for the first batman comic.

+Michael Joesph and Doc Savage. Doc trained, both physically and mentally, to be the best crime fighter ever. His dad died and left him one of the richest men in the world. He has a collection of vehicles docked out with special gadgets like cars, planes, and even a submarine. He doesn't us a gun but instead depends upon things like glass balls filled with chemicals that can produce smoke, explosions, or anesthesia which he carries, along with a grappling hook and silk rope, in his Utility Vest.

I saw this long ago when I was five or four years old and it blew my mind away. And it still does. And I think the cast of Alec Baldwin was perfect since I grew up with Volume one of the old radio series. And the Margo lane in this one I got a bit confused as to why they had her be able to read minds when she never did, as far as I know on the radio show. If they took that little thing the film maybe the film would've been perfect. And also I think that the Shadow series should be brought up as a tv series. The radio show had so many wonderful episodes that it was be a true fan's dream to see one of the episodes performed onscreen. Wouldn't you guys agree?
@bjbell528 жыл бұрын

The Shadow essentially has all the same abilities and talents as The Batman save for the fact that he has no qualms about using guns and depending on the version of the character, has the power of illusion. I think maybe The Shadow wins.

DOOMED ! The fact that Batman uses glass bulbs that produce smoke, explosions, and knock out gas AND the fact he carries a grappling hook and silk rope to climb up buildings AND he's very wealthy and uses that wealth to create all sort of special vehicles AND that he carries his weapons in his utility belt... Change belt to vest and you have Doc Savage. Doc also does not like to use guns.

The shadow has telepathy, telekinesis and can make himself effectively invisible. On paper, the shadow wins. But it would all come down to who has more plot armor. Not to mention, newer versions of batman armor and gadgets could basically withstand and destroy small armies

Does anyone know how this moment when he emerged from his shadow on the wall was shot. What sort of FX trick was used? I tried to find the answer for many years but with no success
@pennygadget73283 жыл бұрын
A computerized motion-control camera did multiple identical moves across the area, one with a clean background (only the poster and crossbow bolts) and another with that section of the set removed and Alec stepping through the hole left there. A rotoscope artist traced around Alec on a computer to selectively reveal parts of him, while another artist animated the shadow on the wall to match where Alec appeared. The three elements were composited together to make the final shot! If you look at the very end, there's a slight camera jiggle on Alec while the background stays completely still, an error in compositing or camera operation that gives away the trick.
@nikitamuromtsev37033 жыл бұрын
@@pennygadget7328 Wow, thank you very much! I've searched the whole Internet to find this, without success. You are awesome) By the way, can you tell me how do you know this? And is there a way, or maybe a tutorial on how to do this, with contemporary technologies.
@pennygadget73283 жыл бұрын
@@nikitamuromtsev3703 It was in a magazine around the time the movie came out (Cinefex, Starlog, that sort of thing) but I'll have to dig through my library to see which one. To do the effect now would be easy, but tedious since so much is glorified tracing. Amywsy, there are free and low-cost programs for masking, compositing, tracking, etc, the most robust being Blender. Look up "rotoscoping" tutorials to see if any of the apps call out to you. The big problem would be repeating the camera motion to get the clean background plate. If you're mechanically inclined, there are lots of tutorials on KZfaq for DIY camera sliders or automated dollies that can move the cam back and forth. If not, but you still want the camera to move, you may have to do it freehand and use 3D tracking to place a wall or object behind the person; if you're already masking them out for the effect, half the work for that solution is already done. The obstacle for anyone doing this are all the different skillsets involved. You have to learn multiple techniques and how to apply them, and your personal abilities there will decide the final approach you take. I wish my answer was better (or shorter!) but it took a team to make this shot happen, and while the tools have gotten more accessible and powerful, to do it now is still time consuming. I've got notifications on for this thread, so feel free to tap me for any follow-up questions... not much else to do under quarantine :)

Another mistake was having the Shadow give a damn about the bad guys. In the original pulps there would be a room full of bad guys. The Shadow would burst in with his guns in hand and a few seconds later there would be a room full of dead bad guys. Doc Savage was the one who believed that evil was a mental disease and tried to capture and cure the bad guys. The guns his aides carried were armed with mercy bullets that would only put people to sleep. Ham Brooks, his sword carrying aide's sword was coated with an anesthetic that put people to sleep. Those trademarks were put in the stores by Lester Dent. The first two Doc Savage novels had Ham running people through with his sword. And then there was Doc's crime college that was actually talked about in Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood" that cured criminals of their evil ways.
@doomed20638 жыл бұрын
The Shadow is essentially a more brutal, gun totting Batman. When The Batman was originally created he was very much like the Shadow, however in the years since his creation he has gradually become a much more toned down version of the character. That said, The Batman has way more in common with the old school pulp heroes of the 1930's and 40's than he does with the Golden Age Super Heroes to which he is traditionally classed with.
