2:10 the bad guys scream. Why? I have never understood this since I was 12. Did the Shadow do something and if so...what? It was never set up right.

I actually like this movie better than the 1989 Batman. Despite its flaws, and the fact that it failed to be the next Batman, it just still hypnotizes me... much like its character.

You can almost feel the inspiration from Hong Kong cinema here - some of those gun fu backwards summersaults have enough propulsion and momentum in them to be a vintage John Woo film.

Wayne looked good with facial hair. Gave him dignity. I don't know if this was intentional on the part of John Ford, but in this movie it's the first time that Brittles puts on glasses. Historically it seems to be a reference to George Washington's speech to his troops when they were about to stage a rebellion against the new country for lack of payment. At the end of the speech he read a letter from Congress and had to put on his reading glasses: “You will permit me to put on my spectacles, for I have not only grown gray but almost blind in the service of my country."

Very rarely do literary characters translate to the silver screen without compromise. The Shadow looks as though they peeled him right off the pulp! Like Christopher Reeve was to Superman, Baldwin was a prime catch for the character. The "false face" he conjures before donning his costume was such a clever way to make him resemble the pulp depictions and further disguise Cranston should he be compromised. It must take him much mental discipline to keep this effect up during his activities, a further testament to his "psychic endowment."

Man! The maniacal sinister Laughs! The style of taking out criminals! The music! The Shadow really does give one a terrifying impression and he managed to strike fear in me!! Superb but freaking criminally underrated! Such terrific movie should be given more recognition and justice it deserves. The Shadow，better known as Lamont Cranston, was once a patriot who fought for his country, but deemed expendable like any other ordinary soldiers. Unwilling to resort to his faith being strung by his nation as a puppet, he decided to forge his own destiny, and that path led him to a lavishly dark and evil life he enjoyed most, by killing people and running his opium/drug empire in the abandoned territories of the East, thus self proclaimed himself as the de facto ruler of his kingdom (but deep down , there's still good left in him, he only turned evil because he despises the disgusting human nature, which hypocrisy and lies are cruel, pretending to be the brutal killer happy warlord to cover his inner hatred, confusion, sadness and extreme anguish within his poor soul). The High Monk - Reverend Tulku saw bits of light left in Cranston, and he was fortunately kidnapped and forced back into the road to redemption. In order to redeem his true soul, he suppresses his underlying evil and controls it, using it against greater evil for the good of mankind; thus, becoming his alter ego known sinisterly as The Shadow who strikes great fear in the hearts of crime and evil! The Shadow was no extremely, extraordinarily powerful hero/antihero, nor was he a terrifically modern one so to speak; but, characters, story, and settings like this one is simply one of th e best and in my vocabulary, easily tops most sky high budgeted superhero blockbusters we have nowadays. I personally prefer this kind of superhero genre and classic, without much exaggerating effects and powers, although The Shadow was no Superman, but Darkly and Sinisterly, he fights crime and evil with his own respective methods and ways, which is already enough to prove and justify the coolness and greater power one could have and possibly, achieve! Love the Shadow and other similarly related heroes (to all you heroes of such type out there! You're not alone, I'll always support you!)

Always wondered what would have happened if Johnson had not fell out at Ford. Because he was an actor of interest for Ford. So maybe he could have grown into a bigger actor when staying longer at the "Ford stable". After that Ford chose not to use Johnson for is movies for quite a while.

I can't believe it's been 30 years since that film was released. I was in high school in 2001 when I watched the 1994 movie of The Shadow. And yes, I'm still an Alec Baldwin fanatic 😊😁💕

Lest We Forget. These Old Film's we're the one's Our parents were raised on, by such Actor's as Gene Autrey, Hop A Long Cassidy, The Cisco Kid, and many Others only under different Title's or aka similar Name. Reviewing this Clip from My iPhones Library Tonite. Was just too Hear how Eloquently Wayne recited that Speech, and how it Truely Showed His feels for the Nation in Which He was raised. Now My POV is that anyone Who faulted Him or Doubted His Loyalty too this Nation? Simply because He had Never Served in it's Military 🎖️🪖 Forces after His Mid Thirties had passed or His Career was Well Established. I Feel those Condescending, ill and Opinionated People, need too Refresh Thier Views and Opinions of Him. By watching and reviewing His Quote's or His Really Exceptional presented, dialogues & the Remarks, that He had Specifically written into, or had put into His Major Roles, through the Year's. These Thing's and His Remarks. Were the #1 Reasoning for Which His Fellow Actor's or Thespians. Went to Washington DC, and Before the United States Congress, too Have the John Wayne, American Hero Commirative Medal 🏅🥇 First Passed, and Dedicated To Him, just before He Died in 1977. I Will Admit that I was a John Wayne Fan, right Off at a Very Young and impressionable Age. because of My Dearly Loved Father being ahhh, absolutely So impressed by Him as Well. Now with that Stuff Said & put aside now? The Man was a Person of His Word, Reputation, His Honor, plus the Morals & the Ideals, that He had been Raised with His Entire Lifetime. This is I Feel is enough, & has been Said, and Now Explained about My Views too Let the debated Remarks or ill Comment's be Brushed Over, and No Bad Q's or Remarks are any longer Out there About The Man, whom We knew as John Wayne.
