The past seven years of my life have been nothing but shadow work and only God could have brought me through the pain-you helped me realize my sister's narcissism, and from there I went down the darkest roads imaginable. Days so dark I shut down-I was in rehab, got sober, walked away from family and every "friend" I'd surrounded myself with. Even spent a night in prison after a bad reaction to Gabapentin. The act of breathing was too much most days, staying vertical an insurmountable task. And then one day it happened-the light overcame the darkness-I joined a gym, worked on my marriage, made incredible friends and can honestly say I've never been stronger, nor happier. Never, ever give up. Take it one day, one hour, one minute at a time. Thank you for fighting for us-I'll never forget you.

Jung....suggested solitude and to go down Into your depression, and allow the real you to emerge. I did that. As a chronic codependent...it healed me of needing others validation. I had to watch myself daily to recover from old patterns of pleasing others rather than myself. All past deleted in order to be free to be me. Tough and often lonely but l was more alone back when ....than l feel now. All worth it.

Your mom reminds me SO much of my mom. She was/is brilliant especially for her time (she is now 79), I would say ahead of her time but generational patriarchy dimmed her light. She married a man (my dad) who didn't have a lot going for him but was taught to stand by your man even if it's not healthy for you to do so. Over time she also became very codependent and the marriage became worse. She is now full of regrets and speaks more openly about her feelings, I feel good that she can now open up but it took many years for her to do so. As a child she had a mask up, I couldn't tell what was off but I knew something was there. I do feel as the daughter I've helped her but I also have my own mother wounding that I am now working through. Thank you for this video Lisa.

I just broke dating with chronical people pleaser. The guy was way of limits, it's not healthy, it's malignant. In the same time he unable to communicate openly, unable to have a meaningful, deep conversation, no emotional intelligence. I see so many childhood patterns, and trauma, but he refused to admit that. I guess it's not treatable. I left

I did so much work and I still can't manifest what I want and need. So frustrating hearing that I will break through. If I do the work or something. But I am 61 and time is running out. And I still lock myself up on impossible reasoning.

❤️‍🩹 I am 66 & just getting to the layers of CPSTD due to my parents’ narcissistic abuse…. Magical thinking is my Achilles tendon & the last narc fortunately brought this codependency into the light ✨ fantasy doesn’t do us a service if we’re suffering from this trauma 🤦‍♀️ facing the cognitive dissonance is very important to our recovery 👩 it’s still possible to heal @ any age & many women are now leaving long term marriages that they have outgrown 🙏

It seems that I am attracting toxic stuff all the time ( right now a neighbor 's constant pot smoke that gets into my room) - Have not found a way to " heal " that... When I complain, it gets worse as he is lying, denying and getting aggressiv... Fighting demons doesn' t work as warfare is their domain... Trying to work out/ see what my shadow is in this scenario...🤔 Or maybe it is just another hint that I need to move ( Have observed this with friends, though, when they moved because of some bother in their house, they met with a similar type of difficulty in the next...)

Is there an opposite to this? Meaning, what if one was to show ONLY their shadow? Would they be completely misunderstood on almost all levels? Rejected, hated, unwanted, etc?? I give my "shadow" the limelight and Peeps dont like!!! at all!!!

Do you have an example of what people don't like pertaining to your shadow? ....From what I understand, we are to integrate our shadows. Not only show our shadows. And also use the beneficial forms of our shadows (for example, use selfishness in ways that don't harm others, ourselves, and things. This could be being of service because it makes us feel good. Or making sure we get enough rest even though other people want us to do tasks for them). That's how I understand it anyway.

@@coach_amy when I see something, I say something.. if you remind me of someone else (like an actress,etc) il tell you... Il tell a joke during a situation that reminds me of it, basically if I feel it, I say it. During a meeting at work..a long one.. the boss was about to conclude and said "let me use restroom and we will continue".. I simply muttered "god damn it.." and everyone erupted in laughter! A co worker said "you say what we are all thinking"!! But those same people brownnose boss and stab you in back. In my early years I was taught to be polite, people please, etc . I don't anymore

I'm wondering if there's something here that's calling for a more objective approach? So an example would be ask yourself what you meant by "God dammit".... It could sound like approaching your boss and saying something like "while I realize that you have more to share with us, and I value your wisdom, I feel that X amount of time is too much for us, and we cannot process any more information . Is it perhaps possible to stick to the allocated time for our meetings? Something that's getting your point across without sounding "passive aggressive" perhaps?
@coach_amy
@coach_amy 22 күн бұрын
@@Needy_nic I agree. Although, I'd probably say the following because it would be more natural speak and keeps it unemotional, and taking personal-responsibility: "I was expecting the meeting to end at x time. I have to get back to my work." And then go to desk, like an adult instead of a kid trapped in a class at school asking permission to use the restroom.

I think people become chronical people pleaser because they use it as a shield and a weapon of manipulation : " I'll you upfront undeserved nice things and might do you a favor, that you didn't asks name to do, or I'll anticipate something you might want... etc, so you have to be nice too, you want hurt me!"
