You Brits should be proud indeed. Try holding a concert in the States. Its a world of difference. This video is so refreshing. As I watch it and see everyone sitting comfortably and not shouting rather listening to the concert, where did us yanks go wrong?
@tflstr5579 ай бұрын
I share the same opinion. Concert attendees in the States are disgusting and uncontrolled. If this difference was unknown, the British should be proud of their status.

My dad used to play the original of this song way back in 1974. To this day this song brings tears to my eyes because it unfailingly brings back memories of my dad who loved music. I was once playing this piece in the car and my daughter- who was about 8 years old then - suddenly tells me that this song somehow reminds her of my dad. My daughter was about 3 years old when my dad passed away. The connection between this music, my dad and my daughter - who is 19 years old now - is quite baffling because the album was lost and it was never played at my dad's home. . Atlantis is one of her top favorites because she says it reminds her of her grandfather.

I was about 5 or 6 when I first heard my father blasting this song out on his home stereo record player and home made large speakers. Same with me I'm reflecting on his life as he recently passed away Saturday 3rd of December 2022. He never believed in Jesus until later in his life. He always compared himself with others thinking he was a Good Guy. He finally accepted that he wasn't such a Good Guy agreeing that he had sinned big time like the Lord stated. I had a prayer one night for him and I saw him running in the white light of heaven with a surprised look on his face. As he couldn't walk at the time I knew that God was going to save him and two years later my father accepted his heavenly Father. He not only lost his ability to walk and feed himself but also to talk. He still understood however and my last words to him were, " I'll see you in heaven shortly and we will speak again soon there!" The beauty of the Lord and eternal life will not be missed by those who choose to humble themselves and accept that we need to accept his death in our place... Simply believe and eternal forever life is yours! 😃

Atlantis is such a wonderful song, the best ever, in that it seems to float on air with an invitation that beckons. Everytime I listen to it, it seems I'm being transported back to that wonderful civilisation many speculated once existed somewhere in the Atlantic. Whether it was real or a fantasy I don't know. But it is the kind of stuff legends are made of. Hank's guitar with its rich but hypnotical melody backed by N. Paramor's strings has the magic and power to invoke me into wishing that Atlantis, indeed, did exist.

Yes, l agree..Hank (aka Brian Rankin) and Bruce (aka Cripps)started out as a duo, emulating the fabulous Everly Bros..they sang beautifully, Bruce on high harmony, Hank on melody..as well as wacky, witty jokes ("You may be wondering who this person is who keeps exchanging guitars with me? So do we.."..or, "Well, you have paid for them..."

I remember the Shadows way back when I was 6 and they're even better 60 years later. A comment below says it all "the way music should be" or maybe I'm just a dreamer from the past. 60s, 70s and 80s my stuff anyday. In the 70s particularly some of the best singer/songwriters in contemporary music history were performing. Thanks for posting this. Really appreciated!

I was born in 1990, and I feel the same way about those years, so I don't think it's necessarily a matter of when you were born! I try to keep that spirit alive in my own music, because I don't see much of it around in the modern day, although that's probably a consequence of those selling it trying to push the lowest-common-denominator music to make the most money. The only hugely successful modern singer songwriter that I can immediately think of who is having the success I think he deserves is James Mercer of the Shins, so I'll get a plug in for him if you've never heard of him!
@garynarborough3 жыл бұрын
@@lapelcelery42 Thanks for the comments and I'll look up James Mercer. I lived most of my life in New Zealand having emigrated to the UK 2009. But a lot of British music was what I was brought up on and along with an extremely sickly childhood spent a lot of time around the radio so heard a lot of music yet only heard about Bucks Fizz since being here in the UK. Hated ELO in my teens now really love their music. I was born in 1954. Your reply I totally agree with 100%. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
