Why not build a smaller house or buy on a housing estate and then you can afford to have your children. It's not that long ago when our own parents and grandparents had 4 to 10 children all brought up in a 2 up 2 down home.

I live in a tiny apartment in a small rural town. With the increased interest rates my mortgage has gone to €1000 a month. A beautiful 4 bed house came up for sale across the road from me. The government bought it and put a Ukrainian family in. Two parents two children. The Ukrainian family have a stunning new Landrover Discovery on the driveway that they use to go to the shops. Neither parent is working.

But then I unfortunately have to remind myself that I chose the mortgage route. I could have gone the other way. And maybe if I had of gone the other route I might of had the children I wanted. I think what made me support that family was how much they loved their children. I admired that and would have loved that. I thought my life would be like most other people. School, college, job, partner or husband, house etc. But I moved to a different town for work and was away from my family. Unfortunately I met the wrong man. It doesn't matter now if someone gave me two million euros. It won't take away the abuse or trauma or the nightmares. Even if I'm in a queue and the man behind me is a little too close. I run out of the shop or wherever I am. I don't know why this had to happen to me. But life goes on and I try to make the best of it. I've recently just got a puppy. Maybe she will help me heal. Please enlighten us how you would better "parent" this ladies children ? You were correct in one thing though she most certainly is sharing a space with them out of necessity. Did you listen to her story ? They had to come up with a routine where the older children get to go up and get settled first, and that she keeps the other two downstairs till they fall asleep and then she carries them up to give the others a chance. So I guess all I'm asking is how you'd do it better if you were her and sharing with 3 kids in one bedroom ? Do you think she should have aborted /murdered one or two of them ? Do you think she isn't trying when she clearly said she tried to avail of a Caravan Purchase scheme but they told her they would remove it. Yes you are in a very difficult position too but you are more fortunate because you are in a position to make your choices and achieve your goals even if its a very tough road. Also I would definitely not count myself among the woke brigade. Having said that, we have generational poverty in this country, as demonstrated by this family. This is down to culture not, opportunity. She grew up with every opportunity we all did. Loving parents, a home and free education. What did she do with it? Assumed she should be handed a home for free because that's what she was taught. Remember the government can't give anything to anyone without first talking it from someone else. This country is struggling, our GDP looks good on paper but that is a trick of accounting from multinationals funnelling money through here. Most hard working people can barely cover their rent yet she thinks she deserves a free house. As for your parenting question I would set boundaries and set an example, waiting for handouts is not it. I hope I'm wrong about the next statement but I predict her kids will be in the same position as her, when if they had the right role model they could be doctors.
