Amish is the king of mythology. His shiva trilogy made me book addict. I'm reader because of him. His trilogy is still my favorite. Now looking forward for his "raavan - enemy of aryavrat" coming in this july.

I must have read this trilogy over three times and trust me, The Oath of the Vayuputras and the way **certain parts** turn out always made me cry till I was out of tears. I still do internally when I think of it.

This was the best series I ever read. I literally read all books written by Amish and looking forward to war of Lanka. As I read the book I can understand your feelings . Sati was a beloved and my one of the favourite characters. Every time I flip pages through the ending I just can't control my tears.

I'd like to disagree on your thoughts about Secret Of The Nagas. According to me, SOTN is the best of the three. The main attraction of this trilogy, to me, was the philosophy that was woven in the fabrics of the hoobla hoo that was happening. In IoM, philosophy is kept to a minimum as we are still being introduced to the world that Amish has created. Action, humour, and the will or will-not drama of the lead pair was the primary focus. In OoTV, we had already been engaged in the world and the characters that there was no need to slow the pace down. Infact, the story rushes through certain plot points, as it is the last book and has to wrap up the loose threads. Also, Shiva's backstory is approached, which makes it very difficult to embed philosophy in there. It is in SoTN that we truly get the philosophies that make this series so good. As Shiva travels to different temples, he meets the Vasudevas, with whom he has talks of morals and ethics. Even the filler chapters touch on the smaller aspects of Character interactions that are often neglected by other writers. If there is a book that best represents the essence of the Philosophical Aspects of the Sanatan Dharm in a reader friendly manner, it is Secret of The Nagas. This was just my opinion. You have presented some good content here. Take my Sub!

Okay that is agreable that SOTN is bridge that connects readers to the books true philosophy but seriously I won't undermine the importance of first one because it made us understand what it can be achieved by the civilization which is ruled by discipline, law and order. Also it gave me vision that what ideal society can be like. Not only this I also liked the 'amulet' system and education system there. It gave the most basic order and also it made choosing or finding job easy. It broke caste system as now people got what they can do well not what they were inherited. 'Maika' system is well thought system as it truly made ideal that we all humans are born equal practical as now there is no true blood relation and no clash of ideas because of different occupation of parents. 'IOM' made readers realise that we humans can really achieve Harmony and order if we change. True 'ram rajya' was there except 'vikarma'(intenionally) Also told me realize importance of single leader in country.

@@abhimanyusinghnegi3695 Yes. Also, it told the tale how, not only people, but also entire kingdoms can be fallible and be based on unintentional hypocrisy. Shiva Trilogy is truly a work to marvel at.

The secret of Nagas was my favourite book followed by Oath of vayuputhras. The Immortal of Meluha was good but I felt the story narration was really slow where as secret of nagas had great twist and my favourite character got intorduced. The oath of vayuputhras was great till 3/4 of the book but ending felt a bit rushed.

I have read Amish Tripathi's Shiva Trilogy. He has woven a tale around mythology, science and fiction. The protagonist Shiva has a blue colour neck, like the God Shiva. Amish has painstakingly explained the scientific reason behind it. Sati, Shiva 's wife was a widow. Shiva says that the situation doesnnot lessens his love for her. The children in the kingdom are born deformed and are abandoned . This is conceived as an ill omen and a result of mother's evilness. Amish's book has in short challenged all religious myths. His books are long with lots of details. One needs to go about them slowly with patience. But the narrative is absolutely gripping which keeps you glued.

He did love his daughter Sati dearly but the problem is that he loved only her. He didn't love his other daughter and his wife. Apart from his love for Sati, he was bad for everyone else. So much so, that even Sati was disappointed in him. Initially in the story, I had liked him but as his dark side was revealed, I found it very sad. On the whole, his story is sad.

Right. I didn't hate it as much but still expected more. Characterization is poor and characters are very story driven whereas I prefer the story driven by characters (iykwim). I was expecting the overall Shiva triology universe to be grand and Shiva to have a sort of relationship with the people of those great kingdoms who follow the Neelkanth, but they werent given much story time. But nothing pissed me than the repetition of "burst out laughing" and overused pharases like "Lord Rama, be merciful" in every damn chapter 10 times. Ngl.

I don't understand why everyone loves this trilogy so much. I picked it up on a friend's recommendation and I absolutely hated it. Before anyone gets offended, I read it as a story and a story alone. I don't think of it as a representation of Lord Shiva or other mythological figures. As a work of literature, it was awful in my opinion. The writing was very amateur and the characters were extremely shallow, none of them felt like actual people. Shiva was infuriating (pls keep in mind I'm talking about the character, not the god), Sati was annoying, the other characters had no importance, side characters were given no development at all and the instant love was terrible. And the author made so many things so obvious, it felt like he thought I was stupid and constantly telling me how to view a character instead of letting me form opinions of my own. It's also obvious the author has no concept of showing vs telling. Sorry about the rant. I'm just really frustrated with this story 😂 Let me know if I'm the only one who feels this way
