Subbed for your response to this rude comment. It is a bit croaky but light years better than a lot of other baseball vids. Check out Roger love vocal exercises. They’ve helped me (no, I am not affiliated with him).

plate discipline is prob the biggest indicator of whether a player will age well or not. javier baez swings at everything.

It hurts knowing we won’t ever see old Javy again (I’m a Phillies fan)

Its always seemed like his swing is chaotic, huge leg kick and dramatic follow through, so theres not much time for judging good pitches to swing at

Literally - if his approach was to take the first two pitches of every at bat before getting to swing, I’m sure his avg would jump. He just seems to swing at everything - especially low and away
@drewsanford17282 ай бұрын
No he has such a poor ability to see pitches
@ryandouglas83822 ай бұрын
You can have a high leg kick and still check swing Hanley & Manny Ramierez both did. Acuna did at one point too. His swing seems long though. He's just really eager to swing and has no plate discipline

Frustrates me so much. I’m a lifelong Tigers fan but I grew to love the Cubs from watching Javy and even got his jersey I just loved watching him play. When I went to Wrigley for the first time he hit 2 home runs in that game and that just grew my love even more. So when he signed with Detroit I was a bit skeptical at first because it is so much money but I was excited for him to be on my favorite team and now I can’t stand watching him he’s just crushed all my love for him and us paying him 23 mil a year make it even worse.

The main issue with baez is his ability to be patient at the plate ,the man swings at everything, plays without a care in the world ,his defense has always been great ,unfortunately he got paid a lot of money and he probably doesn't care ,shame for what once a great young player ,

"He sucks by literally every metric used to quantify major league baseball players" might be the funniest quote I have seen. Somewhere Al Avila is releasing a diabolical, Vincent Price like, laugh.

It's a very good analysis and I enjoyed the break down - well, not Javy's breakdown. I'm a Tiger's fan and the dude is hitting worse than anyone on the team - batting average is around 185. You DO need a better microphone.

Definitely the tigers biggest mistake… massively frustrating I just want my tigers to be good again. We are off to a good start I’m just hoping it stays that way

Terrible? How about Mike Trout The guy has never Won one playoff Game his contract is triple but Javi got a Ring and he getting based for a third of that 😂 OK

@@acbabelgates9386i understand if youre an nba or nfl fan coming over to baseball but ring culture isnt a thing over here. i used to be so huge on basketball and realized how dumb i was bringing basketball expectations over to baseball
@acbabelgates93862 ай бұрын
@MrWeenuk21 is that your best effort to justify Mike Trout? Ring Culture? Didn't even know that was a thing. It's About winning champions In Any Sport. Wht the hell are you talking about?
@andrecheats2 ай бұрын
@acbabelgates9386 in MLB rings don't matter. Some of the greatest hitters ever have no rings but everyone knows they are still the best. Ted Williams, Barry Bonds ect. The ring narrative only applies to the NBA because there's only 5 starters and qbs in the NFL. No one cares about any other position not having rings lol, no one ever mentions Barry Sanders not winning a ring, or Randy Moss or T.O.

His swing looked great on the Mets. They were very wise not to re-sign him.
@blueskittles54492 ай бұрын
Who knows maybe that could have been better for him
@magichwoo2 ай бұрын
This was Detroit's fault for signing him. He was on the downside of his career for some reason. At least his numbers were. He didn't play well for the Mets, he did OK. Overall things started to get clearer and he's back to where his numbers are. He's a head case.
@blueskittles54492 ай бұрын
He had the best hitting stretch of his career with the mets but I’ll agree that 6 years was a mistake for the tigers
@marcgulvas84102 ай бұрын
He's a free swinger. He just swings at a spot every now and then he gets lucky. Huge strikeout ratio, terrible hitter. Defensively he's a different story.
@PhantasyStarved2 ай бұрын
He'd be fine if he'd stop chasing sliders out of the zone. That montage at 1:50 that happens literally every game, just watch any of em lol
@greglbennett2 ай бұрын
I'm not going to bother watching this video, because as a Tiger fan I know he is hot garbage at the plate. Every game I watch him make terrible outs 3 or 4 times and after every at bat I say out loud, "He's terrible!" But his defense is so amazing it's hard to justify getting rid of him and hoping that he can fix his issues at the plate.

@eddie-nk4jk2 ай бұрын
Not shocking at all, convoluted swing, twirling bat over his head- has to commit early to guess hitting, swing worked when he was younger with better reflexes and bat speed, this swing does not work any more, its not plate discipline- its hitting mechanics- real simple.
@joebarr7252 ай бұрын
Nothing shocking about it. He is far from the first player to get a big contract and immediately turn into a crappy player.
@blueskittles54492 ай бұрын

He was not that good with the Cubs, either. He's an exciting player to watch, and he causes chaos... but he just was never very good.

Part of me thinks thinks some of his regression is just his situation. The tigers arent very good and the crowds arent as lively as a CHI or NY crowd. He was always the guy to feed off that crowds energy.

The thing is, whatever is wrong with Baez, it ain't gonna get fixed in Detroit. Ever. Period. Never. But, Illitch won't eat the contract so the team is stuck with him. Everyone thought Avila blew it in a way that could never be matched with the Jordan Zimmerman deal, until he outdid himself with this bum. But, since they had to eat that deal and a whole bunch of the cash old man Illitch threw at Prince Fielder a few years back, the idea of doing it again sticks in the kids craw. You could say Baez sucks but that would be an insult to things to suck. I can already see it, the team cuts him, some club picks him up for free and he smacks 30HR's and hit's .300. I don't care. It's just never going to happen in Detroit and waiting for it is like using the lotto as a retirement plan. Just let him go dude, let him go.

@blueskittles5449 You make a Full Video of His Bad Stats but Play Defensive Highlights. Not only Can he still Field Above Average being 31 He Is still Shifty on the bases. He changed the Game especially with his Baserunning and avoiding Tags. You can literally .ake a video of Bad offense for any player in the MLB. Offense is just 1 Part of the Game. He's Been a a Great player for a long time and ya maybe he don't have it anymore playing 162+ Games a Year can put a toll on you mentally and physically. But He's Been one of the funniest players to watch in recent history. So go make a Video on how Mike trout Gets Mega Contract and Has Never won a Playoff game in his Caeer and How long has he been in the Leauge? Talking about 120 mil Contract is too much 😂
