The SICK Slam | How Serena FOUGHT to win Roland Garros 2015 (French Open) - PEAK SERENA

One of Serena Williams' most unlikely slam wins, 5 out of her 7 matches went 3 sets whilst she battled a nasty cold and an elbow injury.
Showing once again her mental strength, she battled past worthy rivals such as Azarenka, Stephens and Safarova to take this title on clay and keep Serena Slam 2.0 alive (which she would complete by winning Wimbledon). The Bascinsky semi-final remains one of her most remarkable wins..
The GOAT would complete the triple career grand slam with this 20th Slam win.

@@sonsoftheedelweiss72 I actually do know the records and I still maintain Serena to have been the best and for me her longevity in the sport speaks volumes. She could still perform at the highest level and beat players 10 years younger, some who were at their peak. Personally I don’t care much about what you won when as long as you won it. Serena held all 4 GS twice. Was it in a calendar year? No. Did she however hold all of them at once? Yes. Did she win the Olympics? Yes. Both singles and doubles. She is the GOAT.

Her desire and focus was incredible. I wish she had this hunger still. She was fist pumping and yelling 'come on' after almost every point. Now she gets mad at herself all the time even when she hits a winner, frustrated that she hasn't hit more. It's really a shame. I dont know how she will ever get that belief and hunger back, but I truly truly hope she does.

In 2015 she won a lot of titles in other tournaments but the highlight was her 26 grand slam wins in a row before that US open semi final (33 in a row if we include 2014) , she was just a beast that year .Her 2016 grand slam season would have been a great achievement for any other player because she reached 3 finals and 1 Semi just like the year before but losing 2 finals ain't her standard. She was definitely on her way to setting new records before she had a baby but even after giving birth she showed how great she is by reaching 4 grand slam finals . I truly believe she will pick up at least one Slam this year and silence the doubters.

Serena is the GOAT in women's tennis. What I don't understand is the need of many players to sport a lot of useless bling. Why do you need a watch in a tennis match? Is there an important appointment that requires constant monitoring on your watch? This habit is most curious when sprinters/runners sport watches. Why? Do you have a better timing method than the official timers? I really want to know.

Serena is talented, nothing to say about this. But, purely from my perspective, as a spectator, I don't understand why so much importance is given to emotions like "I badly wanted to win this" (her stmt in press talk). When Serena or Roger or anyone started playing tennis, they would've obviously started due to their love for the sport but not to win a match or to win a major. Winning is secondary, love for the sport is primary, is what I feel. If a player can play without wanting to win the tournament or the match or the set or the game or the point, and just play every shot to the best of their ability, by choosing the best from the available shot options at any given moment of the match, I feel the extra "have to win" pressure can be avoided by the player. These fist pumps, yells, cries, etc have all been happening due to the passion, which feels like unnecessary baggage to me. A beautiful Roger Federer forehand shot or Seren'a ace or Djoker's slide or Rafa's banana spin shot are what wins them the matches, and are what the spectators love to watch, more than can winning a tournament, at "subconscious" level. Comments please!

@@QuiseQuise I’m tennis fan, not tennis player, I’ve a different profession. They are immensely talented than me. My point is, without this passion she wud hav won few more. In any sport or infact any area of life, education or profession, performance wud be at peak when the person gets into the zone, gets into the flow, and the probability of that wud be higher without passion, because passion pulls out of present moment and projects into future. Passion troubles the mind and body, the nervous system

@madhukiranattivilli2321
@madhukiranattivilli2321 3 жыл бұрын
@@QuiseQuise It is not about U or me or Serena. We are just trying to have a discussion. Talent in tennis is different from psychological aspects. Talent is a combination of data in memory (about tennis), how well trained the subconscious mind is (through lots of practice), physical ability, intelligence levels (how quickly and how accurately a shot can be played), etc. Psychological aspects are common to all. Comes from collective consciousness. Passion envy jealousy ambition anger stress pressure anxiety etc are not particular to any person. Passion is inversely proportional to performance. Passion might initially help to accelerate in a certain direction, to motivate quickly, etc, but eventually it hinders performance... because passion agitates the human system. Performance would be better in a pleasant system. If interested, watch this video about FLOW (also called as getting into a ZONE) : kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eK2jqrVh2bPVc4E.html (vid title is about concentration, but essentially the topic is about flow/zone)
