This is one of my favourite lucie safarova matches as she was 6-3? 4-1, 40-15 down against the GOAT and somehow turned it around to go up 2-0 in the final set. I have no idea how she did it but she did. It just reaffirms my love for her as a player. I think this is one of the few slam finals I wouldn’t have minded serena losing! So happy she won tho!

I miss Safarova! She has one of those smiles that lights up a room - such a warm, positive person.

The fact she almost lost this match in the same manner she'd won 4 other matches this tournament would have been some evil poetic justice lol...I am so happy it didn't turn out that way.

one of her best season i really loved her clay titles in 2013 final and quarterfinal with Maria Svetlana and 2015 sessions and 2016 show would have won one more FO due to illness she was not able to do so

Lucies forehand went into Serena’s backhand which is less error prone than her forehand. Serena makes more errors off the forehand. But Serena is super strong mentally.

I think Serena's return of serve is the best in the history of women's tennis.

I hadn't seen any of these highlights before. It was amazing for a number of reasons. I thought Safarova was out of her league in the first set, but she managed to play a great second and prove she did belong in the final. However, Serena was just too good--a great match.

After a certain period, there were just random finalists in grand slams and Serena picked grand slams like cookies, miss the great era with Henin, clijsters, the Russian army(shara, dinara, myskina, dementieva), mauresmo, Davenport, Hingis and the 2 williams.

When I think of Kerber, Halep, and Woz winning slams Lucie should have been up there. Yes, she has had a great doubles career but she could have done more in singles. With great forehand, movement, net game and good forehand, and serve she should have made more finals and won a slam.

Serena almost let this match slipped away, she should have win this match in straight sets.

Osaka.....is better ....she’s suppose to be she’s half Serena’s age............23 slams is enough.....Serena = g.o.a.t. ....when someone starts approaching 23 slams then we’ll discuss who’s best !!!
