Welp, I just finished the game. And I am really upset that it's over. I felt like I grew with the characters like Tetsu and Tokio and fell in love with the plot and character banter. Possibly the best 20 dollars I have spent in a long time. Now I gotta do Killer 7.

Killer7 is the conclusion of the Kill The Past trilogy. The Silver Case references Moonlight Syndrome(and kills the cast off, heh), but it's largely its own story that leads into FSR and ends on Killer7.

This game looks like the few that transcend into an experience, hope to play this sometime this year. I have only played one visual novel (Paradise Killer) but I loved it and have been in the market for another eccentric one.

I still really need to finish Killer 7, I bought it a few years ago for my Gamecube and stopped for some reason after I met black Liquid Snake. I'm not sure why I stopped, but I think it was because I got the game around the same time I was binge running the MGS series for the first time. There is something about this game (as well as other pre-No More Heroes Suda51 games) that just screams Serial Experiments Lain to me, both in visual style and themes, which isn't a bad thing. Maybe there is a reason for it that I am not aware of, but I often associate the two. But that's just me. Honestly, Suda's early works and SEL seem like something that could have only existed in the late 90's and early 2000's, during that shift from analog to digital. It's kind of amazing because majority of the stuff these games and shows bring up is still very applicable nearly 20 years on. I'll pick this game up as soon as I get the money.

Regarding the controls; they don't really explain it well, but the four positions on the dial are hotkeyed to certain keyboard keys in most instances. So you can go from movement to contact instantly. I ended up using a community steam controller configuration for most of my playthrough, and it worked just fine for the whole game. Did have to use a second machine to take notes, since apparently having a web browser open cam affect the game's stability, and I kept getting crashes at the same point around case 4.

Is this a VN genre game or just a VN? Would you compare this to Heavy Rain or Steins And Psycho Pass?

The Silver Case and Danganronpa are my all time fave VNz. They both have that punk spirit, incredible art, god tier soundtracks, an iconic criminal mastermind that is reinvented in erry entry, and virtual death cults.

there was an earlier demo taking place early on the second chapter. that one nailed it much better so no idea why they chabged it unless to show the improvements without further spoiling
