Unless your grinder has a magical gearbox then even the ones sold with speed controllers are all lower power on lower speeds..

I think that the module is not suitable for hand tools like grinders and similar devices because it will reduce the torque when used under load. It's better to use speed control using PWM (Pulse Width Modulation).

The main source of power is ac, cannot use pwm directly, also it is not economically reasonable to use a variable frequency variable voltage drive to control a speed of a common power tools like this one that will take a lot of abuse.

I used the same model in pwm and doesn't work....the tool start and stop, start and stop...it's a angular grinder with 900w ..... In a coffee grinder works well but if I reduce the voltage around 60 v ..the coffee grinder was beginning to suffer from the same problem as the grinder. why¿?¿

if u lower the speed u reduce torque... the lower the speed.. the more useless the grinder with this setup esp for steel work.

well that was useless, also it doesn't work as good on my angle grinder, only the last 10-20% of the adjustment does anything, it's basically useless, but i read somewhere that i need to add an inductive load of 2K Ohm 10W resistor for it to work properly

By lowering speed, you reduce cooling airflow for the drivetrain. Motor will heat up - until it burns out... i. e. when misusing this setup for polishing.

Its called a motor speed controller. Be sure it matches or within range of the watt requirement of your grinder. If its lower the controller might blow up..

I have the exact same regulator (bta16-600b) and my grinder just stops at 42Kohm (the potentiometer has 500kohm) and does not start if i lower the impedance of potentiometer, it restarts only if i reconnect the grinder from it's power button, while the potentiometes is below 42kohm, otherwise it does not start. It does not makes a change how i plug the phase and null. The grinder model Bosch PWS400-115 has a digital switch (Kedu hy28-81), with its own triac. The regulator works if i bypass the grinder's power button, but it needs more than 50kohm to slow down. Lucky it has a seriated 2Megaohm trimmer.

This is ridiculous project. When disk get on load it will stop. You have to control rpm to not only pwm.
