When I look at reviews I pay more attention to positive reviews over negative reviews. I used to work at Home Depot and we called this “anger bias”. When you do something good for someone they thank you and say they are going to leave a good review with your manager. They leave and forget and you never see that review. But if you piss someone off they are going to go STRAIGHT home and get on the computer and blast you. 100% of the time. So the reason I pay attention to positive reviews is because someone has to be truly blown away to take the time to go home and write that positive review.

I would have agreed with you but I have recently learned that many businesses are actually paying people to leave 5 star reviews on their services/products.

100% spot on! Everything he’s talking about I’ve been doing for the last year and a half with my detailing business (Zitzner Detailing). I started very cheap to build my client list. Slowly got better. Learned more. Raised prices. Lost customers but gained better ones with cleaner cars (less grunt work). Consistently posted multiple times a day on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, KZfaq now. The best way is #1 you gotta do good work. #2 is marketing as much as you can. #3. Word of mouth is huge. I give a $10 referral to each person someone sends my way and keep track

Hey! These videos are more than incredible. As a new guy getting into the business, I watch these videos and take notes, as they are not only extremely educational, but as practical as they come. One quick question for Luke or anyone that reads this, what are some things I can do to decrease drying times. I find myself limited, especially with this Illinois humidity, and waiting on seats, carpets, and mats to dry. Thanks a ton!

Great vid...I focus on what's dirty first, while my energy level and focus is high. Also communicate with the client as to why they called or what they feel is the area of concern. Most importantly is to inspect the vehicle prior to starting. To minimize your exposure to liability. Take photos and text them to the client. Always have an electronic document of any damage. Enjoy the day everyone. 🍻

Something I figured out a while ago is to understand the customer. Some people are very detail oriented and what their car to be perfect. These are the ones that you can charge more and spend more time on the little things. But moms who don’t want the expensive stuff done and just want their car cleaned are only looking at 80-90% of the vehicle. There’s no point in spending lots of time on the 10%, just do the 90% well. This saved me soooo much time on details and greatly increased the money I make per hour. I will be implementing the strategy to get more reviews though!

This is really great information. When it comes to making quick work of areas that don't need a ton of focus I find that using a high quality rinseless wash, like DIY Detail is a huge time saver. Great for door panels, door jambs, dashboard, back of seats, anything you want to quickly clean and not spend a ton of time removing product or buffing down.

Holy shit dude, thank you I struggle hard core with ADHD so that detailer ego creeps up on me more often than it really should and it really can stunt me at the end of the week cause that is potential work time that I’m waisting, and on top of that you are right, I work for Mercedes and Ford, the pressure put on you going right into detailing is tough because every car has multiple eyes laid on it, so that also drives my focus towards the specific area I’m doing because I’m trying to make it perfect, even when it’s already done or brand new

I think you're spot on with that percentage example. There's a rule in business called the 20-60-20 rule and it basically says 20% of people will always say no no matter how skilled you are, 20% will say yes to anything and the other 60% are where you need to practice some good salesmanship to create a good client base.
