Huge tip for beginners. Forget brand loyalty! Find what you like, find what can be diluted and find the best prices you can. Example the $15 gallon pink soap from 3D will do Just as good as the $25 pink soap from chemical guys. Do your research on products and talk to other detailers many are willing to help!

Luke: Your back on your mark, fast talking and all. Your video has enthusiasm, confidence, and devotion to the trade, with an upbeat confidence. Luke, are you saying that this method for plastic restorer is better, easier to coat, and more profitable than Cerakote Trimcoat?
@wilsonautodetailing
@wilsonautodetailing 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Bill, as always it goes without saying... thank you! So the trim serum that I used here doesn't come with any sort of "ceramic" protection. So I cannot yet speak to the durability. That being said, Cerakote is virtually a permanent restoration at the end of the day. I should add, Cerakote while an amazing product, and one I continue to use, at times in certain situations it can be finicky, whereas a product like this is extremely easy to apply with no other thought being given. Cerakote however is absolutely still at the top of my list, and I will say, their chemists know what they are doing, and are continuing to perfect the things that they sell

Luke, thanks for sharing this. I know you have a lot of experience and also have put a lot of thought into everything you do. I aggree with you that causing swirls to an already swirled up paint shouldn't be your biggest concern. However, I would like to note the following. At my previous job, this is almost exactly the sole way (Apply foam, clean with wash media, rinse) all the cars were cleaned on a monthly basis, from new. After just a few washes, they were absolute swirl nightmares, visible in even the dimmest of lights, even though they were all light-coloured cars. Far worse than any reputable automated car wash would have caused, I assure you. And that, I think, is the wrong thing to be doing.
@wilsonautodetailing
@wilsonautodetailing 4 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, over time when you are dealing with say a new vehicle where the paint is more or less in average to pristine condition precautions need to be taken or you will see those swirls accrue overtime

Awesome job and no problem understanding you talking fast because everything was also very clearly explained. Sometimes you will have to restore trims with Solution Finish and sometimes with this product you're showing which I love using too, so all depends on the nature of the beast. The best part is I have learned again is the Rebel Landslide from Renegade products. I saw that product in California at a detail shop and forgot to write the name down in order to use it in my detailing offering to customers. I have just purchased for the Jeep of my cousin and uncle since they wanted me to detail their vehicles and is a great tool to have for other vehicles too. Thanks for all your videos and input.🙏 Xoxo from Puerto Rico 👍🇵🇷

One additional tip regarding Jeeps and any lifted truck or SUV is to dress the undercarriage. As someone that works on his own Jeep, I prefer something like Meg's Synth Xpress Spray Wax (non greasy/oily) but have used dedicated undercarriage dressings like Griots offers with success. It's a small amount of work, can be priced very attractively, and makes a huge difference. Wishing you continued success Luke.

truthfully that is not something that I really see, but just off the cuff I would tell you, assuming it is bare metal I would look into 0000 steel wool, it is something that in many ways can just be used to scrub that area, sometimes without any chemical, and bring it back to a nice shine, and fight that rust

Like button smashed my man..... But yes it is totally acceptable to "up sale" and offer "add on services"..... Every business does it, from small, locally owned to the fortune 100..... By all means, if it's in your budget do it for free, but reality is your out there to make money. To restore that trim with a better than average product that makes the OTCs look like the rip off they are, why not offer it. To paint or replace that would be really expensive, then you'd have to "add protection" anyways..... So work for free, if that's your calling.... But even the most humble-a-man knows you pay man for his labor, and you pay him fairly. Blessings, karma, Honoring God whatever you do it for, there's something satisfying about adding value to someone else's life, merchant or customer

A small portion of my bumper is peeling bad, thanks to a aftermarket bumper guard I got that was leaking and allowed all the water to just sit and it made the paint around and inside bubble. Any advice from anyone here or from Wilson himself on how to cover it up permanently to keep it from spreading and getting worse? A small spot around the curve is already showing the metal or whatever the bumper is made of and it's a pain to wash since I have to be gentle around it and it can't get 100% cleaned properly...

how do you charge for a trim restore?
@wilsonautodetailing
@wilsonautodetailing 4 жыл бұрын
Great question, and difficult to answer simple. I charge based on the value I know it adds based on my own skill level, results I know I can bring, durability, sheer quantity of trim I am addressing, and time

As I've became a detailer your videos have been a source of great information. Im glad you explain clearly as you go. With that being said, i charge a fair amt for details and i throw in the trim restored in my details. My upsales are decontamination w iron remover, glue n tar remover, clay bar, panel wipe, seal n polish. That's a bundle package upsale. I have a kit from gtachniq to do a whole car and all the extra glass, dash, fabrics, rims. I feel i should offer these products in my details on the regular and have like a premium cost detail. Continuously learning n thankful for your videos. Check me out on john driscoll detailing on fb. Id love your critique!

it might be that the paste wax contains fillers which makes it look like the scratches have been filled

Yes that is what is happening. In some ways Carnauba based waxes fill acting like some of these other products that have fillers in them

What’s everyone charging for maintenance details? And how far out from the original full detail?
@wilsonautodetailing
@wilsonautodetailing 4 жыл бұрын
Great question, and difficult to answer in a short comment because there are so many variables to developing those prices. I am actually in the process of developing an online course that is based on building this type of business model exactly: How to build an auto detailing business founded on maintenance clients in order to make a full time income with part time hours. Basically the goal is to take what I did, and put it into a step by step blue print, and there will be entire modules dedicated to this question

Do you have a website?
@wilsonautodetailing
@wilsonautodetailing 4 жыл бұрын
Not currently, soon yes, I have had several websites in the past both for my detailing business and the online side of my business, I intentionally took down my detailing website because of the overwhelming influx of customers that I couldn't handle, so of course that is a good problem to have, but because of the business model that I am pursuing it was much easier to make it harder for potential customers to get a hold of me as weird as that may sound

How much did you spend, and how much did customer pay?
@wilsonautodetailing
@wilsonautodetailing 4 жыл бұрын
I am at a point where I spend very little on my products, because at some level I do have some leverage with my social media following, so I would say a good AVERAGE for a very straightforward detail would be a cost of somewhere around $12 total, and of course a return of something much higher, in this case I charge, IN THE BALLPARK of $200 for a job like this

@@wilsonautodetailing Awesome, thank you for the reply. That is a fair price for all that work, and all the stuf you spent. I live in a small town where you have wealthy and middle/poor class, and for all that work I could get max 30-40$.
