Out of everything in this episode, this stuck to my mind the most. It's so bafflingly mesmerising that I kinda wanna see a full episode of Bart digging.

He's 10. He's probably just digging for the sake of it. Kids are weird.

I love Bart's dialogue in this. It's perfectly bland, casual, and well-adjusted, to the point that the digging itself is the only weird thing about him. Writing dialogue like that must be hard.

Absolutely fantastic series the Simpsons was. Hundreds of different storylines each of us could somehow relate to...in our personal lifes, depending on which character we stuck to. Harmless comedy, the best of the best. Takes us right back to childhood. The fact that it was packed with the relevant celebrity at the time, just showed it's popularity.

Digging is something that every young man must go through. I myself, as an 8 year old, dug a 7 foot deep hole in my grandparents backyard. Had to hold it open with wooden beams or it'd collapse on me. It took 3 weeks

This scene would've worked better as an episode about Homer and Marge being scared shitless about not knowing why Bart would be digging the hole in the first place, only to be told by Doctor Hibbert that kids do weird shit all the time.

I did this once at my farm. I got to 7 feet in the garden. I later learned as an adult that I could have been killed. The hole was way past my head and i did not consider bracing or collapsing and my parents did not know where I was.

I love the fact that the Chinese satellite had an upturned artichoke leaf roof.
