The trouble with aging your characters , especially animated ones, is that it is very difficult to go back. And all episodes with the younger, original, versions, are even more obviously, well, earlier repeat episodes.

The amount of times they’ve lampshaded the fact that their timeline makes zero sense is incredibly high. There’s no way that they will ever nail anything down. Hell they did give specific dates numerous times but nothing has and nothing will ever stick if it’ll get in the way of a joke

I think the simpsons should end where it began with the first episode so it can be a continuous loop. Given the lack of continuity, I feel like it’s the only appropriate way for this show to go out. That’s my opinion

A popular fan theory states that every Simpsons episode takes place in a different alternate universe, hence the lack of any continuity except when it's needed for a gag and the characters never aging. Every episode, including special ones like the Halloween episodes, is canon, just to its own unique universe.

This video didn't answer ANY mysteries. It just pointed out the mystery, and said Bart would age one year. BIG FREAKING WHOOP!!! Thanks for wasting my time, ScreenRant. I've seen a dramatic drop in the quality of the content this Channel is producing. I wonder why.

An interesting video, I have always thought that the flashback / future episodes are set outside the main continuity. My only criticism would be that I think there have been too many of the future episodes.

This is so weird as I always thought if the show ended this is the story line they'd use as the last one. Bart figuring out they have been stuck not aging... And basically breaking the cycle ... Metaphor for growing up.
