@@Ashqelon01How? I'm guessing you're a seventh day Adventist as you don't support sunday worship. But friend, Paul said it's okay for some to observe some holy days and not others; we just gotta focus on Jesus and on His precious love man. Colossians 2:16 "Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath."

Awesome word!! It`s so true. I go to a church where the `dual nature`is preached and almost everyone is in bondage to sin. The focus is on fighting the flesh and the weakness of it and people live in defeat because of it. I couldn`t figure out why so many people seemed to be living below victory and now I believe I know. THIS IS CRUCIAL!

Let us no longer hide behind the myth of a current "sinful nature" to find comfort for any sins. Jesus set us FREE! Romans 6:6 says the old self was crucified and the BODY OF SIN was brought to nothing. Ephesians 6:12 says we don't wage war against the flesh. Why do we still complain? No more excuses!!

In the last five years I have been reading the early Greek Fathers of the church. They never articulated their Christianity like western Christians do. Here is Alexandria on the Incarnation. "Thus, taking a body like our own, because all our bodies were liable to the corruption of death, He surrendered His body to death in place of all, and offered it to the Father. This He did out of sheer love for us, so that in His death all might die, and the law of death thereby be abolished because, having fulfilled in His body that for which it was appointed, it was therefore voided of its power for men," and, "Christ, the Son of God, having assumed a body like ours, because we were all exposed to death, gave Himself up to death for us all as a sacrifice to the Father.” Notice in this quote the focus on death as the problem and how the Incarnation of Christ was all about defeating death. The early church did not see sin as the central problem. They did not believe in Penal Substitutionary Atonement. They did not believe in Forensic Justification. They did believe in Justification. They believed in the Headship of Adam. They did not believe in the Federal Headship of Adam. The doctrine of the Federal Headship of Adams did not exist as an idea until a hundred years after John Calvin. The early church believed that Jesus was our substitute and He died in our place. His death and resurrection defeated the work of Satan who had brought all men under the bondage of death. Hebrews 2:14, 15 says, “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” The reason the early church believed the central work of Christ was to defeat death was because they believed that sin comes from death.They did not believe that Adam gave us a sinful nature. They believed that Adam gave all men a Mortal Nature. The reason for this is found in Romans 5:13 & 14. It says, “To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone’s account where there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.” In these two verses it says that the men who lived between Adam and Moses were sinners. But it says that their sin was not reckoned or accounted to them because the Torah had not been given. But notice what it says about these men who lived between Adam and Moses. It says, Nevertheless death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam. So these men were sinning but they were under the “reign” of death. Death was the problem they faced in spite of the fact that they were not held guilty for their sin. This curse of death came from Adams first transgression. So the problem was death not sin. Also notice they had no imputed guilt. So Adam did not give them a sinful nature. Their sin came from the reign of death. The reason Adams sin was different was because his sin brought death into the created order. That is why these other men who lived between Adam and Moses did not sin after the similitude of Adam. Adan's Headship here is seen in three ways. One, He was the first man. Two, He was the first man to sin. Third, His sin brought death into the world. Our sin does not bring death into the world. Death is already here. Even if you could live and not sin you would still die because the curse of death came from Adam. The early church had a two dimensional view of sin. For Adam the wages of sin is death. Adams sin brings death on all men. For us 'The sting of death is sin". 1 Cor 15:56. This is why Paul the Apostle in Romans 7 after describing his struggle with sin said "who will deliver me from this BODY OF DEATH?" Paul saw his struggle with sin coming from his body which was infected by death. Adam gave us a Mortal Nature. It was Augustine who by his doctrine of imputed guilt who brought the western church under the idea that sin was the central problem and not death. Because of this the articulations of doctrine and faith are much different than what you find in the early church before Augustine. Most western Christian's know nothing about this subject. There is much more on this subject but I leave it to you to move forward in your own reading and study. A good book on this subject is "The Slavery of Death" by Dr Richard Beck. It is a Kindle book on Amazon. One final Note: Because the Roman Catholic Church developed from the Augustinian view of sin the Roman Catholic Church had to invent the sinlessness of Mary doctrine to avoid the problem of Christ inheriting a sinful nature from Mary. If Mary had a sinful nature the incarnation would be impossible since Christ would inherit that sinful nature. The Protestants invented the idea that the sinful nature is transferred down by the man and not the woman. The early church before Adam did not have this doctrinal problem since they believed that our Mortal Nature was the problem. In their view Christ in the Incarnation assumed our mortality and subjects Himself to the power of death that he might defeat Death Sin and Satan. For the early church these three things were the unholy trinity.

Thank you. Very interesting. I would only add that death is separation from God. Like a vehicle without any fuel or driver, we have no purpose if we don't walk with God. The wages of sin is separation from your purpose. Your sin separates between you and your God. Jesus suffered this separation unjustly being hung on a tree and cursed by God. Death which was His own separation from God was adjudicated as having been unjustly applied to Jesus by Satan. Jesus took the keys of hell and death on His way out of hell and back into communion with God in Abraham's bosom. He told the thief on the cross, this day you will be with me in paradise. Hell and death had no power over Him, and could not keep Him even for a day.

Verses 1Jn 1:8-10 are not about receiving Christ as Lord and Savior, but about repenting for and confessing concrete sins to Christ. This is the way to receiving forgiveness for future sins, committed after we are born again. I am not quite sure what you mean by "I run to Papa and jump on his lap." A feeling of being loved does not help. You will have to confess your error clearly as sin, and ask Christ for forgiveness for that sin. In the long run, you will need to overcome sinful desires and actions, resulting in a noticeable change in your behavior. This is possible by the work of the Holy Spirit in you, not by feelings.

@gatekeeperoflight the most important thing. As God pointed out when he said "the greatest commandment is this, that you love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and might and love others as Christ has loved us". Thats all the commandments in one. And "obeying" the commandments is impossible without that relationship. Remember man, don't be to caught up in doing things FOR God that you forget to do things WITH God. So to rephrase what you said....

”Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.“ ‭‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭7‬-‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬ John makes a very clear if we are willfully sinning and practicing sin we are off the devil if we are honest with ourselves and honest with God, we can overcome making a practice of willful by confessing this to God, and humbling ourselves. If we are not honest with ourselves and are in sin and claim to be children of God, we deceive ourselves and Christ, does not abide in us.

Be careful you're not listening to him wrong. When he says "already perfected", he's referencing hebrews 10:14. It's way deeper than it seems. He's not saying a christian can't sin, otherwise he's not a Christian, he's saying, there is a place for freedom from sin, but we can all fall back by living in the flesh. The flesh is supposed to be dead with Christ through baptism, but this is only lived out when we live in the Spirit (galatians 5) if you live in the spirit you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Most people listen to Dan preach this and hear it completely wrong.

When Dan says that he doesn't buy the dual nature thing, he is badly mistaken. When he says that we've already become perfected, he confuses justification with sanctification. He thinks they are the same thing. They are not. Galatians 5:13 "You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love ... So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." Phil 3:12 "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me." It is clear from scripture that after we become believers, we have both a sin nature and a spiritual nature. We can choose to live by the flesh or by the Spirit. Our flesh doesn't just disappear like Dan thinks. We are being perfected. We are not yet perfected. In Romans 7, the Apostle Paul describes how sin that lives in him still sins. It is no longer he that does it, but sin living in him. For Dan Mohler therefore to say that his sin nature is gone is to mean that he is far ahead of even the apostle Paul. I wouldn't go there. Dan Mohler may boast of some pretty powerful miracles and healings, but he certainly has no shortage of spiritual pride when he says that he is done with all sin and therefore has surpassed even Paul himself.
@othnielhinckson1058

Hey my dear friend you have sadly taken those two scriptures out of context. I do agree that Paul is saying that he has not attained perfection in the sense of him being totally renewed in his mind therefore being transformed, and attaining absolute spiritual maturity. but that which is perfect is our true self, our spirit self. We are spirit beings that live in a body. Our spirit is perfect, and if we live from that reality, believing that we are partakers of His divine nature, and that he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him, and walk in the Spirit, then we will not gratify the lust of the flesh on any level. And we like Paul press on to perfection (attaining absolute spiritual maturity). If we believe that He has given to us everything we need pertaining to life and godliness and that as He is, so are we in this world, then we are complete or perfect in Jesus. Why? Because it is no longer I who live but Christ who live in me and the life I know live, I live in the Song of God who loves me and gave His life for me. It's these truths that we draw strength from to live free from din. I quoted a bunch of scripture sorry I didn't give the references. Be blessed my friend.

Friend, I hope you're having a great Thanksgiving. I would simply say that there is a distinction between justification, being declared righteous before God, and sanctification, the process of becoming set apart or righteous, and glorification, the finalization or completion of this process yet to come. We are not perfect yet and, yes, we do have two natures, our spiritual nature and the flesh. To deny such is ignore the plain reading of Paul. I would be curious how you think I've taken these passages out of context. I don't deny the possibility of fully living by the Spirit and fully crucifying the flesh (which is what I think you're getting at), but to confidently declare that we've reached that point of sinless perfection, as DM indicates, is spiritual pride. Only God can judge our hearts, as Paul says. DM is very likeable and has a huge heart (I've spoken with him personally for over an hour), but I think he's confused on some key issues and uses his miraculous testimonies (whether they're true or not) as a means to disseminate doctrinal error in this way. I admire his zeal to see God work supernaturally but that does not justify a departure from sound doctrine or his association with those that openly embrace heretical and occultic practices (which I have brought up to him and he ignored). I say this as somebody who followed him (and others like him) very closely until I took an honest look at things and found serious theological problems with much of it. I wish him the best, but he and others like him are very persuaded in their own minds and are unlikely to give this sort of thinking an honest appraisal, because spiritual experience is far more persuasive than biblical truth. I hope this makes sense, maybe not. God bless.

The law convicts our hearts. It's impossible for man to keep it perfectly but we do strive for that with God's grace and renewal of our minds. Remember that "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all." Also, "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." God looks at the heart, and we all fail the test there...thank God for grace through Jesus!

Well big boy, when it comes to addressing the sin nature in us you may not have any peticular sin that keeps on tripping you up, but some of us do and we look to and place our faith in the finished work of the cross of Christ, whereby giving the holy spirit the latitude and legal right to do for us that which we cannot do for our selves.

"its impossible for man to keep it perfectly but we do strive for that with God's grace and renewal of our minds". That's not necessarily true. The Bible itself speaks of men, out side of Jesus who kept the law and never sinned, but still need the blood of Christ because they were born into sin. If you read in the begining of Job, it says he was perfect and avoided evil. And then God himself says that Job is perfect and blameless. Its not impossible. Its impossible...

@gatekeeperoflight Have you ever read Romans 14? Paul discusses that believers are free to worship God on any day they choose as it is a matter of personal conscience. In my freedom in Christ I deem every day as unto the Lord - this includes Sunday. The pagans don't have a claim or monopoly on Sunday, because this is the day that the Lord has made, and I will worship the Son of God in Spirit and truth on that day and every other.

to do it outside of faith in God though. Romans 5:14 specifically said that before Jesus there were some that never sinned, but were considered sinful only because of the spirit of sin that passed on them due to what Adam did in the garden of Eden. Even though they didn't sin they still had the spirit of sin which is why Christ died so we could have his Spirit. And because we can receive his Spirit we are able to have Christ inheritance. So no, its not impossible to keep the law perfectly.

Ok i think im getting it. So to say you have no sin is to say the sin i do commit is not committed willfully or intentionally but is a consequence of the nature of the flesh but not the nature of my spirit. Therefore i will not be condemned in the spirit nor pay attention to my fleshly shortcomings nor allow them to dictate how i relate in the spirit unto God. So the sin i do is not of me but of the old nature that Christ has cleased and removed from me. The intentional sins of the flesh like sex profanity drug abuse etc are no longer appealing to me because I have been renewed in my mind to abhor evil and wicked thoughts and behaviors that are now abhorrent to me. So now i am free from sin. Am i getting it right?

It sounds good but I must stress that positive talk does not make faith so. Faith comes by hearing, hearing the word/voice of God. We can't cheer faith into existence, but rather, realize he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. So it is appropriate to wash our hands and morn until "God lifts us up" or in effect he "makes a tree good....produces good fruit"

Grace Through Faith Just a thought to consider: is Romans 7:14-22ish talking about the flesh? What do we do with Romans 7:5 that says we are no longer in the flesh? And then in Romans 8:9-11 that also says the same? In Romans 7, it seems as though Paul could be talking about what it's like to live under the Law or what it's like to live in the flesh. He then goes on to say that we don't live in the flesh if the spirit of God lives in us (Romans 8:1-11). In my opinion, this is the power of the Gospel and freedom from the power of sin on this side of heaven! Psalm 124:7!!

@BIGDADDYDUKE2... plz REREAD that passage in Romans 5:14 and REALIZE that it is NOT SAYING THAT THE PEOPLE WERE WITHOUT SIN... it's saying they didnt sin according to THE LIKENESS OF ADAM'S SIN ==> meaning they didn't sin against a God-given verbal command ("do not eat the tree Adam")... they didn't sin against his command, b/c it wasn't yet given (Rom 5:13), they were sinners in their hearts, just didn't yet have the commandments to convince them it was sinful. "All have sinned.." (Rom 3:23).

the scripture is 1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. We are made righteous by the blood of Jesus, doesn't mean we stop sinning, it's just that we are covered.

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil 1 John 3:8 We need to read 1 John 1:8 in context instead of one lining it. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. This passage Is talking about Greek Gnosticism, a heresy In the early church. Greek Gnostics believed they had never committed any sin. John is saying "if you say you have never committed a sin then you are deceived." Or in simple terms " if you say you have no need for the blood of Christ, you make God a liar." Right before and after he says this he makes it very plain that Christ blood cleanses us from ALL sin. ALL unrighteousness. Don't believe the lie. Satan wants you to be caught up in your sin until you die so you can never walk in your full destiny as a son or daughter. In romans 7 Paul is speaking about being under the law. If you read romans all the way from 6-8 you will see that sin is dead. It has no power over us any longer. Our sinful nature has been circumcised away and we are free. Anything less then total freedom from sin is spitting on the finished work and saying " Jesus your sacrifice wasn't powerful enough to deal with my sin." If you know Jesus personally then you will know He calls you to "go and sin NO more."

I like Dan's focus on his identity in Christ and not the "sin consciousness". We are to crucify the flesh and live by the Spirit, but for Dan to say that he cannot recall the last time he needed to confess his sin and therefore conclude he is not in any sin at all is spiritual pride. We will have a sin nature as long as we live. Whether we choose to feed it or crucify it is another issue altogether. Romans 7 is present tense. It doesn't disappear simply by reading Romans 8. Just because Dan is not convicted of a sin does not mean that he is without sin and does not have any need for further conviction of sin. That is a doctrine called sinless perfection or entire sanctification. It eliminates our awareness of any sin in our lives of which we are unaware and still not convicted. We have not yet been perfected but we are being sanctified. If you believe Dan here, then you'll think that as long as you don't feel like you're in sin, then you will falsely conclude you have no sin. I would urge anyone watching to avoid this type of thinking. I believe we can live victorious Christian lives, but to confidently assume that we've arrived and no longer sin at all is spiritual pride of the highest degree.
@astonthomas6953
@astonthomas6953 9 жыл бұрын
My brother, Romans 7 doesn't disappear but is rather clarified by Romans 8. Read it all through. The end of Romans 7 says Paul serves the law of the spirit and the law of sin. So he serves the law of sin present tense? May it never be! Romans 8 immediately says he is now SET FREE from the law of sin and can fulfill the righteous requirement of the law! Sin is exactly what Jesus saved us from. That was our OLD nature. If we are a new creation, we have a NEW nature. Why would Jesus save us from sin yet leave us in it? It simply doesn't make sense. Jesus saved us from it!! I believe Jesus 100% when he said to be perfect as our Father in Heaven is perfect. Sin is willful, there is no accidental sin for the believer. So if I have a new nature; if YOU have a new nature, why would you EVER sin? It's either 1) because you don't truly have a new nature (the Scripture was lying) or 2) we don't believe who God says we are! I encourage you to rematch the video as Dan gives some GREAT insight. Especially around the 7 minute mark!
@rogerulrich3508
@rogerulrich3508 9 жыл бұрын
Not all sin is willful. There are unknown sins. A lot of sin comes to our attention as the Holy Spirit brings conviction. A lot of Christians live in sin without the slightest idea. As you become a believer, you receive a new nature but you don't become perfect immediately as Dan says here. The old nature doesn't simply disappear when you become a believer as he says. There is the process of sanctification. Dan confuses justification, sanctification, and glorification. Dan is a very nice guy on the surface. I've spoken to him for over an hour once. However, the problem is that it's hard to have a conversation with somebody who thinks that unless God brings it to his attention, then he has NO SIN and NO ERROR at all. Therefore, when there is a point of disagreement, there is no room for him to acknowledge the humble possibility that perhaps (just maybe) he is in the wrong, because of this misguided belief that sin is purely willful. After all, if he's not willing to sin, then he must be without sin. All other parties must be wrong and at fault. Condescending, prideful, and misguided.

What He is saying is that we have believed a lie. We think that we are for ever bound by sin. But the cross freed us the Blood clensed us. Therefore, We are made righteous through the Blood of the lamb and no longer have to live lift in fear of sin. But we have been made free of sin so we don't have to worry about it but walk free. Dan also said that there are rare days when he is convicted of moral sin. So of course He repents the only reason we live in sin is because our mindset is we are still sinners. That is not true because at the cross through the death and resurrection of Jesus we where made perfect. We have been imputed the mind of Christ Christ's mind never had thought sin because it was in total submission. So if God told us that we have the Mind of Christ, The Blood, The DEATH AND RESURRECTION. In Galatians 2:20 it says that we have been Crucified with Christ so it is no longer I who live(Sin nature) but Christ who lives in me. Truly if we believe that we can walk in freedom and not bondage to sin. Now again to emphasize that does not give us a right to go out and sin we should live righteous and holy unto the Lord. Also we should still know that we where sinners who need the blood who needed the cross and Resurrection of Jesus because we where sinners.
