PSA: if you have rosacea, the occlusive property of vaseline/petroleum jelly can make your skin feel hot and cause more flushing. This doesn't mean it's not good for skin, it just means use very sparingly if you tend to flush red easily

Tips for rosacea? I think I have it now(still need to see a derm)but my cheeks have what looks like a red rash:( it gets worse with certain products or heat... even hot showers. There is zero evidence that vaseline or castor oil actually affects lash growth, it can only condition the shaft to lessen breakage if you struggle with that but if your lashes are naturally short, it won't actually do anything. It can contribute to blocked ducts though so should be used with caution.

This is why so many people loved Max Factor Pan-Stik and Stik foundation. It was so smooth looking, with a mineral oil base. I love the look, but my skin is sensitive. I would absolutely get at least 1-2 tender cystic acne bumps (applying foundation over Vaseline).

Max Factor! Wonderful makeup and they understood that not every olive skin skews yellow. The rest of the world is so lucky they still have the brand -- the corporate owner pulled it in the US because it was too much competition for their other brand and favored child Covergirl, which frankly couldn't hold a foundation brush to it!

That's because it's not mineral oil, it's petroleum jelly, so you are coating your face in a cancerous toxin. You're sensitive skin may have saved your life. There is nothing moisturizing in petroleum, you are just coating your face in a synthetic liquid plastic. Always read the ingredients of anything you consume.

@@redlupo6193 indeed. I love several Max Factor products. I remember when I heard it was being pulled in America. I went to every Wal-Mart in my area and bought every Pan Stik I could find in every shade. I bought what I could afford. Each on was about $7-$8 and that was in 2010. I waited about a year and sold them on EBay. The average bidding would go to about $95-$105 per Stik. That’s when I realized just how beloved this makeup is.

There are people out there saying Vasoline is bad for you. It’s not. Don’t put it directly over burnt skin or an acne breakout because it’s occlusive. But it absolutely rules as a primer. Once a week I like to put serious moisturisers and face oils on and then slather Vasoline all over that for the night.
