Over time studios have become less creative, relying more on what has already been made rather than creating new and original stories. Could this be the beginning of the end for the film industry?

Hollywood doesn't make good movies anymore, movies with great stories...meaningful stories. Hollywood started to decline in the year 2010 onward.

I would set this much earlier into the late 1990s. In this time, originality and good scripts were butchered in favour of CGI-effects.

A film really shouldn't cost more than $10m. And if the profits went to the people making the product instead of filtered into a corporate money laundering machine, we'd certainly see a better product for that $10m.

It's not just that they don't have original ideas anymore, it said they have to take the old ideas we love and put their political messages into them. Many times a movie will be coming out that I would otherwise be interested in, but I don't want to be lectured to about how bad of a person I am for not thinking like someone from Los Angeles or New York. So I stay home and don't watch the movie, which is perfectly fine because there's tons of entertainment I can find online made by people that don't hate me.

Great video! I think it was the barriers to entry that made Hollywood appealing to work in, in the first place. These are now disappearing. As a film studio or producer you are now competing with your 17 year old neighbor, who has the same editing technology as you do. A.I. will make it possible to replace the main actors face in any movie with your own. I think Hollywood also feel threatened by KZfaqrs, because Hollywood is losing its grip on culture. Cutting edge culture is meme culture, born on social media. Its not Hollywood anymore.

It is a bit naive to believe that the end of the 90s was not just as braindead in terms of cinema. It was the rise of formulaic romcoms, Adam Sandler comedies and raunchy spoof comedies. This video suffers from a lot of golden age syndrome. Remember the past has already been filtered out, and we only remember the good movies. The 2000s were a nest of mediocrity and horrible writing.

What you described was more of that type of genre than overall cinema but I agree there a lot of cheesy and awful movies to go round for the 2000s

Nah movies were definitely better back then on average. Of course every generation has bad and good movies, but we are talking about averages

Good time to be a Sylvester Stallone kind of person. We need a person to write their own script and shock us with their acting. This is a perfect time to get a break if you have any talent because everything stinks.

I just can’t agree with this at all. Saying that the blame is on creatives is insanely untrue. It’s also not on the studios (outside of budgeting issues). The people we have to blame our ourselves and our friends. Being interested in film, and a massive supporter of the film industry, I try to see 2-3 movies every single week. I know that I’m in the minority on that, but my point still stands: People aren’t going to see the original movies. There are dozens of original and creative ideas released into theaters every single month, and most people don’t go to see them. Fans scream “Stop remaking things and give us original movies!”, and don’t even know how dumb they sound saying it. THERE ARE NEW ORIGINAL MOVIES ALL THE TIME!!! So stop with this bullshit narrative that they aren’t coming out, and instead, GO SEE THEM
