The Small SUV That Oozes Style: DS3 Crossback First Drive

So, let's say you're looking at buying a Citroen C3 Aircross, but you want something a bit more premium, or let's say you want an alternative to the Audi Q2 and the Mini Countryman. Well, say hello to the all new DS3 Crossback, the latest - and smallest - SUV to come from French carmaker DS.
I had a quick spin in two variants to see if it's any good. First I went out in the Prestige trim level, which is expected to be the best selling trim level, and sits around the middle of the range, with a starting price of £24,955. It was fitted with the Puretech 100 petrol engine which offers 101hp with 205Nm of torque, with power fed to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.
After that, I then slotted myself in to the current range-topping La Premiere model, which is a launch edition, and will be available until around September this year. This has all the bells and whistles, and it has a price tag to match, as it starts from just below £34,000. The one I drove was fitted with the Puretech 155 engine, which produces 155hp with 240Nm of torque, and is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Interesting to see you around West London, Egham and Windsor Aaron! Citroens used to be built in Slough back in the day (up until 1965). Not sure about the DS3 Crossback, I drove a first generation DS3 1.2 Puretech 110 Automatic a few years ago, and it was all right (better than I was expecting) and this seems similar, pretty much an evolution of the earlier car. Definitely not very keen on the colour, though!

Yes, the first driving route was most peculiar...We started in Kew Gardens and then went on to the M4 and M25 o our way to Windsor. Thankfully, the second driving route (as seen in the La Premiere) was more scenic. Thanks for watching.

It certainly seemed like a strange route for a car launch, although I have driven most of it many times, so I found it very interesting... The latter one was definitely better! Looks as if you enjoyed the launch in any case.

Ray I think the old DS3 still looks good,I believe they are stopping making it for the crossback,a shame.

citroen its not a brand known to make great sports cars they can make them but they are better at making confortable and practical cars just look at its history .. the fact is that i have a friend with a c6 it has head up diplay so another citroen inovation i had an audi a8 2006 3.0 tdi and the cheap citroen amazed me how confortable it was ... i prefer the audi quattro and power but i have to recognize that citroen can make the most confortable cars... im in rolls royce uses citroens suspension.. so dont expect any sportnies in a citroen car they never made it except for the saxo 16v

The problem is, french cars are known for having questionable build quality and reliability, which is why people rather go German, thanks for watching.

@@CarObsession Car Obsession well my first car was a renault 21 gtx 2.0 8v 120hp and it had no problems at all that car its also my newphews firs car and actual car it has more than 20 years and 631.260km only thing i had to do to it was maintenance so i dont agree with that the problem is that people that buy french cars dont take care of them and they are cheap every person has its history with every car brand in my experience with french cars i only had problems with cheap interior and electronics i work as a mechanic for seat and volkswagen group and the cuality of VW cars are at the same level as peugeot and better than seat you dont buy a german car for quality you buy it for the badge be honest i personaly have a 80% german car made in spain, the cupra ateca witch i love and own because i know that 2.0 TSI engine 100% and i can fix anything in a moment but german cars are not better than french just diferent in price peugeot 308 gti has a bmw psa made engine for example 1.6 thp its an amazing engine for its size

I have an Ateca right now, but I'm looking to swap into the La Premiere model. I've got one for a 24 hour test drive today. The autonomous driving tech is much better than the Ateca, but the Ateca is better to drive. The Crossback seems to roll more and the steering is very, very slow. Also, I'm 6ft3 and have the seat all the way back, but that means I have to lean forward to reach the display or dash. I would defineily miss the height and 360° cameras of my Ateca. Great video!

@@sbomorse The DS 3 Crossback is also a smaller car compared to the Ateca, so that's something to bear in mind. I like both cars, but my choice would be the Ateca.

Overstyled, less is more. Not enough space, particularly in the back it feels claustrophobic with the shark fin blocking the rear passenger view. In an suv, you want light and space, easy on the eye design. If you choose an interior like that, it should come in a sports car low to the ground. This is neither SUV worthy, nor DS worthy. Missed its goal if you ask me.

not one word about four wheel or all wheel drive so does that mean it doesn't have it if not then it needs to stop calling it's self a SUV . A real SUV has four wheel low any thing else is kid mover want to be SUV !
