D'arcy's harmonies on this are so great. Softens Billy's nasaly tone perfectly.

D'arcy, had such an ability to harmonize with Billy. I have a spot in my heart for her. She is what is missing from the reformed band. I hope her the best and am grateful for the time she spent with the Pumpkins. I honestly don't think as much of the early sound would have been the same. It's subtle but she is there.

She gets shit on (unreasonably so) because Billy wrote and recorded the bass on the albums. She definitely holds it down live, and her vocals made Billy sound so much better than he actually was (she was heavy in the mix both live and on albums), but she gets hate because she's playing the bass lines that Billy wrote and originally performed.
@jameshuto16363 жыл бұрын
@@benbub123 Except that's not even true. He recorded "most" of the guitar parts on Gish and Siamese Dream. He recorded the bass on Machina and Adore, and Mellon Collie was fully collaborative from all members. Why I would ever doubt the mighty Smashing Pumpkins is beyond me. I was like their is no way the do this song acoustic but they dot it and not only do they do it but they absolutely Destroy! Those fast sliding octaves are super hard on acoustics but then again they do it perfectly and that’s the guitar part that makes this such a special song!!

Back in the mid 90s, my band used to do an "unplugged" once a month at this bar, and at the time we used to do Quiet, I Am One, and Cherub Rock, and all 3 sounded awesome on acoustics. I played an ABG just for the sake of all of us playing acoustics. I'm so glad I found this. Thanks for posting. And yes, I was totally in love with D'Arcy!

@Mike Russo ...look closer, Billy's teeth are perfect, vampire white. Sexy. And everything else he is,was,will be is perfect. Talent beyond this earth and gorgeous teeth thru which he sings.

You know a song is good when it works acoustically, too! That’s the test! And this is amazing!
