Today, I am exactly 20 years, 7 months and 27 days old. The same length of time that Morrissey's bad dream lasted. wow.

"On The Queen Is Dead, 'Never Had No One Ever', there's a line that goes 'When you walk without ease/on these/the very streets where you were raised/I had a really bad dream/it lasted 20 years, seven months and 27 days/Never had no one ever'. It was the frustration that I felt at the age of 20 when I still didn't feel easy walking around the streets on which I'd been born, where all my family had lived - they're originally from Ireland but had been here since the Fifties. It was a constant confusion to me why I never really felt 'This is my patch. This is my home. I know these people. I can do what I like, because this is mine.' It never was. I could never walk easily." - Morrissey, Melody Maker, September 27, 1986

This video really appreciates this song. This is one of my all time favortie Smiths' songs. Thank you for making it just as I imagined the video should be. Maybe even better. Yes, over 25 years ago I felt the same pain.

My bad dream is still going on nearly 46 years later 😳 . And although still ill, I'm still here thanks to Steven Patrick morrissey saving my life on a daily basis since I discovered his dulcet tones at the age of 14 . Quite simply there is noone like him and no voice that can haunt , resonate , chill and cheer all at the same time and in the way only his can. I like other bands but imo none have ever made the mark in the music world anywhere close to that the Smiths and Morrissey made . 🥰

The weird thing about this is, that I do have friends and a boyfriend, but it's just in a formal way. It never felt like they would seriously mean something to me, because they do not understand why Morrissey influenced me and made me adore him more, than I adore my parents. To listen to the songs isn't just for joy, it's something deep inside the most fans that makes them listen to The Smiths and Morrissey. Maybe the longing for knowing who they are and where they belong.
