I am a life long Smiths fan in my early 50’s. Over a decade ago, when I first heard this, I was utterly moved. To discover an image or a sound of an old friend, years after they passed way is an extraordinary feeling. Bittersweet

Mesmerizing, that sad melancholy voice. The keyboards by Paul carrack, he was the guy in ace who made "how long" plus squeeze " tempted" and mike and the mechanics " the living years" . the smiths! What a band. Always missed.

This version. Or the albumn version? The piano can't be beaten on the other one. But this through a surround sound you hear how much work tate put in imo. Then you have the heavy john peel version lol.

I mean, 'reel around the fountain' was a slang term used to describe oral sex in the 80s lgbt communities from what I've read and also it's pretty clear if you read the lyrics carefully

if any of you out there have ever looked at,heard , Troy Tait earlier music,tapeswhistle test vids,,what the frankly unimaginative morrisy has done here is a travesty

such as I know Troy Tate was in much loved punk band The Rezzillos who released a couple of punk rock classics - I Can't Stand my Baby and My Baby Does Good Sculptures along with jo Calais who wrote large chunks of the multi million selling Human League - though much was hoped for from Troy Tate these unreleased demos etc of The Smiths may sadly turn out to have been the height of his career and some would say this a bit roughter round the edges Smiths productions sound superior to the full polish John Porter produced album but who is to argue with facts and figures - the biggest band of the 80's whose legacy is discussed even today
