His guitar skills are what make the Smiths so special and set them apart from Morrisey's solo work. Johnny was the one who inspired me to learn the guitar not long after discovering the Smiths when I was 17.

From their second single onwards I bought every Smiths record as soon as it was released. 36 years after their split, now that the dust has settled, this has become my favourite Smiths song, the one that song sums up everything that was brilliant about them. And, yes, that includes the lyrics.
