I can see why this was not the final release - not so polished - when you've listened to the original as many times as I have it is very clear why. Its always good hearing alternate versions especially in the way the song is sung - slight intonation, breathing and timing variations and of course "want to" is pronounced "wanna" - obviously an afterthought by Morrissey who was dead against sounding american!

I like the clean sound of this one. Although you can still hear violins they are not as loud as the album version.

It's a monitor mix, probably what Morrissey had to sing to, therefore drums are higher for him to keep in time, guitars lower so not to throw him off. It's nothing to do with a final mixdown.

I used to sing this song to my ex (hopefully future) girlfriend... and in the ending i always sang "there's a light in your eyes that never goes out", now, when i first heard this version i felt, wordless, astonished...and sad...
