Fans were overjoyed to hear the announcement of Zack Snyder's Justice League, but what does it mean for audiences and studios going forward? This video suggests that studios caving to the demands of fan outcries might not actually be a good thing, despite some obvious advantages.

Although I do agree with the majority of what you said, I don't think the studios have rights to dictate character treatment, exclusion of inclusion of certain characters or the narrative in general for that matter. Nothing good has ever come out of this approach. Just because you're an oligarch who owns a world class soccer club, it doesn't automatically make you a coach. I do hope Warner Bros learn from their mistakes. Just look at their story. In the 2000s they gave Chris Nolan a ton of money, basically granting him unlimited creative freedom. The result? One of the most well-received and financially succssful trilogies of all time. So, what do they do next? Instead of cultivating that same approach that alllowed that to happen, they said "No, screw it. The audience just wants to see as many familiar heroes as possible". So they ditched the creativity, ditched the smart and thoughtful approach to storytelling and opted for a quick and easy route. The result? A giant loss of money and even bigger loss of fan respect. Let's hope Joker and Batman are the indicators of a creative reconsideration rather than just lucky coincidences.

Oh yeah I don't necessarily agree that they should meddle with the artists vision, as you say some of the better comic book films have come about because of the lack of studio interference, I'm more making the point that Warner Brothers as the copyright owners reserve the right to interfere if they're not happy with the direction or vision an artist is going in

@@focal_point Well, we'll see if Warner were right all along once the Snyder Cut becomes available. My guess is that it'll suck just as bad as the original theatrical version, if not worse. Saw Sucker Punch? Yeah, that's the kind of garbage that comes out when Snyder is allowed to fully execute his "vision".

@@bornon18 I'm torn on the whole thing because I do quite like some of his films - seriously unpopular opinion but Man of Steel is my favourite superhero movie - but I thought BvS and JL were rubbish and I have no doubt that the JL Snyder Cut will suck too. I'm a proponent of directors getting their artistic vision out there, but the constant petitioning from his entitled fans (and also the way Snyder himself responded to the campaign) made me really wish the studio hadn't caved to them

@@focal_point Judging from what I've seen in his interviews, Snyder seems a little detached from reality. Sorta like Michael Bay, but with a fetish for gloom and biblical references instead of explosions and Dutch angles.

@@bornon18 detached ? Are you sure ? Because I kept seeing videos where Snyder makes Indirectly Pessimistic, BUT hopeful films in general . Maybe with his dyslexia, he is sometimes clueless about what he wants to speak.

Complaining about "Toxic" behavior in Fandom outrage is always a smokescreen for studios to cover themselves, never take it seriously.

I know it's not all members of the fandom, but where there's smoke there's usually fire. You need only look at the social media replies to people like Joss Whedon, James Wan and David Sandberg to see how up in arms some viewers have been over this issue.

@Eric Sledge Not only do I literally mention the charity and positivity that came from this movement in the video, but I go out of my way to make it explicit that the negativity only ever came from some members of the movement, which is what the video was about.
