Being the first part of a walk-through of William Silvestri's Solo Campaign Management Rules. Wherein we generate two nations eager to wage war over a disputed alliance gone terribly, terribly wrong.

To reduce the odds of a completely one-sided situation, consider the following drop mechanic: The capital city is always class A. Then roll d10s for remaining cities. 1s are Class B. 2s & 3s are class C. 4s, 5s & 6s are class D, and 7s, 8s, 9s & 10s are class E.

Just subscribed. Purchased the book, after watching several of your videos. Great content; excellent explanations and easy to follow. An old wargamer from the 80's - now reinvigorated . Thx

I must confess I mostly start with existing maps, historical or fantasy maps. Something different to see the whole origin story from the beginning. 😀

Thanks for this. I have had this book for quite a while, however I did not find some of the material easy to grasp, so watching your series on this should help me out.

@tigershadow1 After watching his videos pertaining to the Guide, more of the book is making a lot more sense and I am now using it effectively. Hope you give it another go and find success!

Great video...Just for fun I think I would have placed the artillery in a city with 4C's for Dextramania, like the one beside the forest, and like wise one with 2C's for Sinistria; that way you did'nt have to take soldiers out of the militia pool. It would add a small layer to the game play as well, encouraging the player the mobilize their artillery before invading.

You've definitely got an underdog situation there! Although who is the invader and who is the defender and the way mobilisation pans out, could be a leveller. This guide is very enjoyable and the advised approaches make for a great campaign experience. Look forward to a daring offensive gambit, deadly defensive strategy or crippling sneak attack?

Did you ever look at Donald Featherstone's Solo Wargaming book? I am thinking of picking up the book in the video here and the Featherstone book. I am trying to find ways to evaluate competent play at playing all sides in a game for more than one. I also want to do join in any time solitaire games that can scale up multiple players in same game so others can join in.

Yeah, it's a great look at a number of viable alternatives. As usual, 50 years old now, most of the ideas have been implemented in a number of games, but it's a fun read. Really get you motivated putting some of his tips into action.

Just curious, would a port city actually have a cavalry? They should trade that in for a navy

Where do you've found the ratio: 5 infantry, 1 horse, 1 gun? And: why do you subtract 1 militia when add 1 artillery?
@TheJoyofWargaming
@TheJoyofWargaming 2 жыл бұрын
I got the ratio from my viewers. For once that is a good thing. For the artilllery, I just pulled some militia out of a town to keep the game balanaced.

Lion Rampant. It is more late medieval than black powder, but I think it's a great introduction, and this book would work just as well for that era.
