19:59 According to the 2nd movie…yes,that is possibly correct. Since the Owls (possibly along with Longclaw) and the Echidna Tribe(Which Knuckles’ Dad was apart of) fought over the Master Emerald. Which explains why the Echidna’s were there at the start of the 1st film.

This is an incredible iceberg. I know for a fact that there's just sooooo much info on earlier versions of this movie out there just waiting to be talked about, especially when Sony had the rights. But thank for giving me all this info of a extraordinary piece of cinema that even gives Martin Scorsese joy.

Here's a tidbit that wasn't on the iceberg: the Olive Garden bits weren't actually a result of product placement, it was the result of a running joke the filmmakers had on set while filming, and it just grew into a joke in the movie itself.

Is it sad that I considered this as one of my favorite films of all time? Before people start saying I have shit taste in movies, and should start watching ''real'' movies like The Godfather Part ll or Citizen Kane.....I do have taste in movies, I just personally find this movie very personal to me at an emotional standpoint... Wow, that's quite the rabbit hole. Yet another informative and well put together video there! Just want to add a little tidbit on the movie related to something in my home country: The movie has a Norwegian dub, but for some odd reason it was never shown in neither the theatrical release (which was shown in English subbed) or even on DVD/Blu-ray (though it has a Swedish dub included as stated in front of the movie's Scandinavian/Norwegian cover, WHICH IS THE SAME THING AMIRITE?!). But the dub's available digitally on places like iTunes and other places where movies can be bought. Not sure if this has ever happened with any dubbed movie before, but this is certainly the first time I have seen anything like this. *i thought that was interesting*

I wonder the sequel will leave enough for another iceberg. Maybe if there's a bigger budget? And the entire movie is set on alien planets with tons of references to the games? Or they'll have the echednas be the main villains, leading to another lawsuit from he who should not be named, initiating the final battle for the fate of the sonic franchise...burning the iceberg to the ground.

This movie deserves a lot of love due to the fact that it's meant to be a love letter to the classic fans, while also embracing all the positive aspects of the modern era. The only thing it missed was a soundtrack that was more, well... Sonic-y? Heck, I went through digital hell and back just to get a copy of this movie and outright replaced the score with some fitting game based OST just to see how it fits (which btw is publicly available but shh :P) But yeah, #ReleaseTheBallProp

Changing the design was really important. Not just for making the film work but for the regular people like but for giving the franchise in general a lot more respect. Before this people only brought up sonic because of the werid fandom and from what I I've heard the recent games haven't been good. So fans should really be happy with it.

Side note, Odd1sout gave another reason as to why the publicity stunt theory is false. That theory is that the design was going to happen because Cats got released despite all the hate with those designs. Edit: ok bad wording. What he meant is that cats got released with its designs, so if that could happen then the old design could happen unironically, too.

It was discussed in one of Rebel Taxi's Pizza Party Podcast episodes (I don't remember which one) that the guest on the episode made a pitch for a Sonic Movie, and SEGA of America actually liked the idea. It was apparently all going well until SEGA of Japan heard about it development and disliked it and cancelled it. At least that's what I remember of it.
