My favorite thing in this episode is the fact that the only gun that Artie could come up with is a hunting rifle with a scope on it that was probably in the back of his closet since he and Tony went hunting when they were kids. A great touch.

The thing with Uncle Junior is not he is only not wanting to admit that Tony runs things out of pride but also cause he has honor, he's no snitch.

I forgot that Artie Bucco drives that old station wagon, that's a perfect visual symbol of his whole personality. He's one of my favorite supporting characters in the show, of course Paulie Walnuts takes first place for me. "OOOOOH, the sfogliatelle! Wattsamattawitchu!"

When I binge-watched this series several years ago I could never skip the intro. I even had a dance routine worked out in my head (& sometimes actually got up & danced along, I'm embarrassed to say) & I still remember it every time I hear the song. Each season is better than the last. Season 2 episode 1 we start to see a glimpse of its brilliance. Season 1 was qlmost like a normal crime show. It gets much better. Season 6B is a masterpiece and puts the whole experience in perspective.

Great to see a wise mother react to the Sopranos. So much of these very emotionally intense episodes are based on Tony’s kindred family vs Tony’s mob family. Mothers see this show thru a very different lens than others. They see the choices made & risks taken in a very different light than most. This will get very interesting & very real & maybe emotionally painful to watch & process as things unwind. Just remember the writers are deliberately setting you up to force you to think about things yourself you normally just accept as baked into the cake of life.

The character of Livia Soprano was originally planned to be killed of at the end of first season. But she was so popular that they decided to let her go on.

By season 3, the other characters outside the soprano family get fleshed out even more.

We love this show because there are relatively few characters that its easy for us to hate. This rollercoaster ride makes us like a lot of these people, and feel sorry for them, and then usually it comes back to show us how evil people can be. And how little loyalty exists when money is in the picture
