To prove his innocence, the leader of the Templars just before execution said that by the end of the year, King Phillip and the Pope would "choke on their own blood". Both men died by the end of the year.

Hi, its a great summary but the Reconquista lasted until 1492 (not until 1340- as stated in min 3:06). In 1340 took place the last battle in which the moor armies attempted to retake territory. They lost and from then on it was just a defensive/diplomatic war, until the Christian armies decided to conquer the last Moorish kingdom in Spain: the kingdom of granada. Apart from the brutality typical of its time studies have show that from all of those prosecuted by the Spanish Inquisition only 10% were executed (around 31,000 people in 326 years).

This video makes a common mistake. It was the state that carried out the vilence. Not the chrch's inquiston. They both pursued hersy but were not the same thing. The state was corrupt and crul while the chrch was so lenient it actually set standards of how to humanly treat prisners that are still practced today in devloped contries.

I have a question: did the Spanish Inquisition have a branch in South America? Did they accompany the Conquistador in Mezo America?

Yes, but the Inquisition had no jurisdiction over the natives until they converted to Christianity.

Ignorance concerning religion goes on today. My 3 brothers were Elvis n Beatles fans one lived n Hawaii n came home in 1975 another lived n Norfolk, Va and another n Md. All 3 were big on Elvis n Beatles fans n had every 45 n lp album they came out with as well as most anything concerning them. All in plastic but one played his collection. When all 3 moved elsewhere they all 3 gave my 13 year old niece their collection's. When Elvis died they were calling him the King and my ignorant pentacostal sis said theres only 1 king and thats Jesus so she took everything the 3 gave her and burned it. Priceless yet such ignorance. Ignorance has no rational answers
