Hey Matt! Gorgeous HC! I mentioned, in ur unboxing of this, that he seems sort of like Ghost Rider. I just remembered(God, my mind is going, lol)Ghost Rider also has been given the moniker "Spirit of Vengeance!" I know u recommended the Ostrander/Mandrake run(& I have checked out some of that online, & enjoyed it!), but I luv that EC aspect u talked about w/the hands melting, cutting a guy in half w/giant scissors, etc! Also, u know I'm down w/that matte/newsprint-style paper! The nostalgic feel(only improved in quality)of those old comic pages can sometimes create such an added fun-factor! I LUV, LUV, LUV the old EC Comics stuff! Unfortunately, I somehow(don't know what planet I was on at the time)missed the boat on the DH OHC reprints(although I did get "The EC Archives Choke Gasp!: The Best of 75 Years of EC Comics" OHC- which is FAN-FRICKIN'-TASTIC!); but I recently stumbled upon a solicitation on Amazon for "Tales from the Crypt" v.1 that had a release date scheduled for next May(or something like that)- & it appears to be the same as the v.1 OHC, only it's a TPB. So I'm very excited that DH is apparently 🤞🏻going to re-release all of their EC collections in TPB format! I do have some of the awesome Fantagraphics EC Artist Library Eds.(I think that's what they're called). They are really nice HCs w/each volume focusing on the work of one of the EC stable of amazing artists! They are in glorious b&w/pen & ink, which really showcases the incredible drawing of each artist! I have one volume each of Jack Davis, Jack Kamen, & Johnny Craig(3 of my favorites), plus all 3 vols of my very favorite EC artist(one of my favorite artists, period), "Ghastly" Graham Ingels! There's a 4th(& I think final)volume of his work coming out this November! Super excited for that! And a George Evans volume is coming out soon, as well(maybe next January?)! But Ingels was such a pioneering artist! The Legendary(& all-too-soon departed, R.I.P.)Bernie Wrightson sighted Ingels as one of, if not the biggest inspiration for his style. The masterful Kelley Jones sighted Wrightson as the most influential artist on his style. And then, genius(imho, anyways, lol)artist, Kyle Hotz sighted Kelley Jones as a huge inspiration to him & crafting his style! U can see the chain going down the line. That's 3 awesome artists who, when all is said & done, owe a part of their signature style to Ingels! And u can see it in the way they embraced(to a large degree- especially Wrightson)doing the hatching all in the same direction most of the time, & limiting their cross-hatching. It's there in the way they use large, deep swaths of pitch-black inks for their shadows & things like folds in their characters' clothing, etc. And u can see it- to an extent- in the way they often draw w/a sense of highly detailed, expressionistic, exaggerated & contorted distortion of their characters' facial features & expressions, as well as other parts of anatomy that, a bit like Ingels- but to a lesser degree- can make them appear like they are(to steal a description of Ingels' work from one of the guys who worked @ EC)made of wax that could melt at any time... & yet still feel real & believable! Ingels was THE MASTER, imho, of creating the most gruesome, oozing, decaying, flesh-rending, putrid(& all other manner of gross-out descriptives)images of horror to possibly ever grace the pages of a comic!😱🤮😜 Sorry about that rant, lol. But aside from being a HUGE fan of horror, in general... I'm a MASSIVE fan of both the old "Creepy" & "Eerie" mags, & the old EC horror & crime/shock/suspense comics! And those images in that Spectre omni did, as u stated, remind me of the old EC horror stuff! Thanx for another awesome review, brother! Hope u & Mike(& ur families) are able to continue staying safe & healthy!😊👍🏻👍🏻❤

Im stoked to hear that those EC’s are getting reprinted. Even if just tpb cause I missed the boat as well. But if they’re tpb then I can bind them.

@@TheHardcoverComic Hey Matt! Sorry this response is a little late(Crohn's issues😞). So those EC reprints passed right by u too, huh? That sucks. But if DH is going to reprint the collection of titles in TPB- as, according to Amazon, it appears they are are going to do- I will be super grateful! And u doing custom binds is awesome! U may end up w/better looking OHCs than DH put out! And at the very least, they'll be personalized & one-of-a-kind! 😎

The WORST part about random "overviews" by random Pumpkin heads on youtube is on display here: the yabbo in question admits he's never read much of the "Spectre" series, flips PAST the contents page, and then begins to muse about how Neal Adams "wrote" the Spectre comic books. He has no clue about Jim Aparo -- the best Spectre artist bar non -- or Michael Fliescher (the guy who wrote the infamous "Wrath of the Spectre" series of books). The internet: proof positive that the human race will always be as dumb as a sump pump in the middle of the Gobi!

125 USD converts to 165 CAD. It's not more expensive. Same price!

Its more when Canada doesn’t have IST or anything similar and have to pay cover price.
@jocool73703 жыл бұрын
IST would ship to Canada, I guess.
@TheHardcoverComic3 жыл бұрын
After shipping it’s basically cover price.
@jocool73703 жыл бұрын
Just order some more along with it and cost per book will go down.

Some people do, however not everyone can afford multiple books to make it worthwhile.

To each his/her own. I love the design of cover and dustjacket. I hate the paper. Despise that paper.
