There’s something so powerful from this one short alone. It puts a lot about what we think regarding superheroes on the daily into perspective. They got all these cool abilities, but at the end of the day they’re still human. Miles is no different, and he’s just getting started. Beyond the Spider-Verse is in development.

Beyond the spider-verse was supposed to come out March 29, 2024…so they dropped this short film to give us a little something.

Anxiety and sleep paralysis. That's fucked up

The spidey sense going off with nothing in the room is the best way to use Miles to explain anxiety. Like that was too relatable.

This is part of an education effort to help with mental health awareness. You can read up on it in the notes for the original video. Very cool way to support an important cause!

Man, the way the dark figure reaches out and pushes down on Miles' chest.... That just felt real. Not sure if anyone else here's experienced an anxiety or panic attack, but you just feel this sinking feeling; this pressure on your heart like you can't breathe. Definitely that as a pointed reference to that feeling. Cool to see this short story crafted around the issue of mental health. It tends to be underestimated or downright dismissed, but it's awesome that Kevin Love and the folks behind Spider-Verse were able to help spread awareness and craftt his little tale. Mental Health was definitely touched upon in "Across" particularly with Gwen's universe and her "mood board" backgrounds, but i love seeing it in focus here.

The sleep paralysis part hit home for me. I was told my psychiatrist I wanted to try out Lamictal (mood stabilizer) for my bipolar disorder and no BS, it was the first time I had ever experienced SP. I would always wake up drenched in sweat after having vivid nightmares like druids carrying my bed down a ministry, me cracking my neck & getting it stuck sideways, and my dad peeling off his face to reveal a monster underneath. Even after I quit the meds, I was still stuck with SP for another entire year & a half but I would usually just keep my eyes closed and I don’t think I ever saw any scary figures. Now I only get it when I take Magnesium before going to sleep which sucks because technically you’re dreaming, but the dream world is identical to your bedroom and you have to either try with all your might to yank yourself up, slowly wiggle your fingers/toes then limb-by-limb til you’re awake, hold your breath til you awaken gasping for air, or intentionally wait for something to scare you awake. The worst part is you’re telling yourself that you won’t go back to sleep but when you actually wake up in the real world, you want nothing more than to go back to sleep but if you try to rest your body for more than 3 seconds, you automatically slip right back into that paralyzed state & the cycle repeats.

Had similar sleep paralysis demon of a dark figure standing over me grabbing every limb to keep me from moving. It happened so often that I've gotten used to it but the intense feeling of fear never goes away.

Im taking this as a sign that the next movie isn't that far from being close to done... Maybe it's a sign they're at their halfway point.🤷 All i know is... They don't release this stuff unintentionally... For example... No Way Home... They built the hype around Andrew and Tobey's return on purpose.
