I have one of these, and maybe I'm the one weird outlier out there but mine doesn't have any major issues other than being somewhat picky with ammo (as far as accuracy anyway) and paradoxically shoots supersonic rounds better than most subs. It doesn't shoot as well as it should to be a "target" model but mine shoots generally ok. I get good results with Aguila 40gr (which you used in the video) Eley force, SK semi auto, and recently tried Fiocchi 40gr and it did pretty well too. I've not had any of the feeding or extraction issues some people have ran into. I think these don't have the best quality barrels on them which leads to inconsistency. I know these were made by Retay for Springfield, but I've not known Retay to make anything other than shotguns. It's unclear if they made this barrel or outsourced it. Perhaps Retay offers arms with rifled barrels in other markets? Overall I can't complain too much about mine, it shoots well enough for most purposes and was relatively inexpensive. It doesn't compare favorably to my CZ MTR however. I definitely don't want to come across as trying to make excuses for these. Not my intention at all, but the one I have is truthfully not that bad. Maybe some aftermarket barrels will eventually come to market and someone can test it to see if that really is the problem.

I believe the guarantee is 1” groups at 50 yards with match ammunition in the hands of a skilled shooter. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with this rifle. Mine being the target version. It has shot really well some days and it has really disappointed others. After a day out, shooting what could only be described as shotgun patterns I was done. After talking to my LGS, they agreed to send it back. I decided to exercise my due diligence and torque checked my action and verified my scope installation. Bought a box of SK Match Long Range (only match ammo I could find in my area). Went to the range gave it one more go, shooting 3 round groups. With the exception of two of the 15 groups, they all met the guarantee of 1” @ 50 yds. Surprising, CCi Standard Velocity out shot the “Match” grade ammo, significantly. With that said, there was really no sense in sending it in when my marginally skilled shooting hands can meet the guarantee with bulk ammo. It’s still fun to shoot and I don’t plan to shoot competitions with it. Honestly, it has one of the smoothest actions, especially at the price point. Would I recommend it, no. There are other options that will shoot just as well, if not better for less money. One final note, CCi Clean, in my experience, is not that great. I couldn’t shoot 1” groups indoors at 25 yards with my CZ Varmint. Save that stuff for the soup cans

My experience with service was awesome on my Waypoint. One minute in the call I had a shipping label no questions asked.Three weeks later it was at my door Fixed to my liking. I did not bother them for this $2500 rifle but 3 weeks is an acceptable turnaround.

This guy says he doesn't know what actions screws they claimed to tighten. WTF???? He might be better off just playing games on his phone or something.

Some of those groups looked pretty good its hard to find a rifle that like all brand ammo just stick with the ammo that did good. The only 22 rifle i own thats not ammo picky is my cz 452 super match all the other 22 ive owned have been ammo picky.

That being said do you think this is worth the sticker price of $399 new with a Viridian 3-9x40 scope?

I picked one up recently before seeing all of these bad videos about the rifle. I'm happy to say mine shoots well with Federal bulk black box. Which I'm happy about. I'm still testing but so far I'm happy with the rifle. Maybe I just got a good one.?

The SK is not bad, but the rifle is not even good enough for plinking. I own a Norinco EM 332 it cost me $160, and it shoots sub MOA at 50 meters.

I contacted springfield about mine. Sent it in and they sent it back saying nothing is wrong with it. They did the same 3 shot group with lapua. There's a reason they won't shoot 5 shot groups and only use lapua ammo for their tests. This rifle is not consistent. I sold mine and bought a 2nd CZ 457. Will never buy another springfield rifle.

Hey man, why do you have your scope mounted so high?

I got a nasty email from them saying nothing is wrong with our rimfire guns and we have no known issues! Every single person that owns one has an issue. I have many including not feeding and not ejecting. Along with horrible accuracy.

Dr sir maybe the problem is. E 9. Aka operator error. A. You scope is too high from the barrel. B. You never shoot any quality ammo c maybe you are pulling the shoot with so much of your finger on the trigger. Mine shoot a .375 group with good ammo. 28 dollars per 50. Find the ammo the gun likes

I appreciate you and all the other internet reviewers who have steered me away from what would almost certainly have been a majorly disappointing purchase. It is nice and a relief to know that there are still honest people telling the truth on the internet. Springfield needs to take this one back and redo it. Lots of good ideas and styling - but the function needs to match it, even at this price point.

I don't believe you're giving it a fair review you have a competition rifle there that requires better quality ammunition try the standard rifle with that ammo and you'll do a bunch of different group

Avoid Springfield. If they won't stand behind their products, and after the legislative fiasco a few years ago, screw them.

OMG, you're such a cry baby. You bought a $300 rifle and you shoot range ammo in it. Now you expect 1\2" MOA.

The gun only likes select ammo for sure. Probably about 20% of the ammo available as I tested out. Even then at 50yrs the 20% is under 1” every now and then. The 3 shot group at 1” guarantee is a scam! 5-7+ shot groups is a true grouping. The barrel is probably too large of a diameter thus why some ammo works and most seems like a squirt gun
