I thought last episode James was trying desperately to "be one of the guys" since he'd been around girls so much of the time. It wasn't the real James, it was James essentially playing a caricature of what he thought "guy guys" were like despite it not being at all like who he actually is, nor, in fact, at all like the guys they were with from the protestant school.

Sister Micheal's soft "What?" Always makes me shed a tear. Her concern for them was front and center in that moment. The actress expressed so much emotion there, her sternself gave way to her trueself.

James was funny last episode but you werent really meant to like what he turned into- he leant hard into the toxic end of masculinity in order to fit in with the other boys and went too far (to the point that one of the other boys called him weird and sexist). It wasnt a permanent change to his character just satire on what boys do and say to fit in

I’d heard about Derry Girls a bit before you guys started reacting to it, but once I saw y’all’s first reaction and finally experienced some of the show for myself I simply had to go and binge all 3 seasons. I absolutely *love* it! And I have you guys to thank for me even giving it the time of day!! (For some dumb reason I’m suuuuper resistant to checking out new shows. I dunno why. I actually really dislike this about myself but it is what it is.) So, thanks, fellas! You guys are the best!!

I used to be like that. It can feel like an effort to check out a new show and I didn't want to expend time getting to know new characters and settings just to have that time and energy wasted if it turned out it wasn't for me. But I got over it and started making the effort because I knew I could be missing out on new experiences with shows I might love.

I did the same thing! I’d been meaning to watch it since it first came out as I knew it would be up my alley but had never got around to it. Binged all 3 seasons and absolutely loved it!

I have the same issue (clearly I’m so late to this show 😂) it’s actually related to anxiety… it’s comforting watching shows you know cause you don’t have to worry about where it goes etc.. my (unsolicited lol) advice would be, if you want to branch out, start by watching shows with actors you already know… I decided to finally watch this (even though it has been on my list basically since it came out) after watching the third season of Bridgerton and somehow in my mind it just makes sense, because I feel like I am already familiar with at least one person in the show (even though the characters Nicola plays are actually completely different)

They're young adults. I don't think it should be that big a deal. I think society would be better if people learned to drink under supervision at a younger age, rather than waiting until they hit 18 and then going crazy on it. I had my first sip of Guinness when I was only a year old, a tradition among my family. I was drinking wine under supervision when I was 12. And my uncle, who was a cop, got me my first full pint of beer when I was around 16.

Also she didn’t supervise them after, she just watched them drink and then sent them off home by themselves when Claire was obviously pissed. I agree with what you’re saying, drinking underage whilst supervised by your family or trusted adults is a good way to make sure you don’t go crazy when you turn 18, but this entire situation is a bit sus lmao

Yeah drinking in your teacher's house definitely isn't normal... I did have a teacher who used to let us go to the pub on the way home from a school trip tho 😂 (also not normal, especially considering we were all in our school uniforms 🫣😂)

Y’all have to react to “The Usual Suspects.” It has a stacked cast and a great storyline and it’s very very good. I think Kevin Spacey won an Oscar for his performance in the movie. It’s really really good. The gang posing at the end is an homage to the movie. Enjoyed y’alls reactions and commentary as always.

I first watched this episode when I was in high school, but now I'm in college as a creative writing major and all I can think of is how awful this teacher is lol
